Panel did find the Saints had a system that was an "agreement to cause, or attempt to cause injury to opposing players."
I'm confused about what's what now.

This brings up a very interesting point.

Are the Saints prepared to actively pursue this and the $500K fine?

Albert Breer ?@AlbertBreer Goodell does have the power simply go back, say "thanks appeals panel, I suspended them on pay-to-injure all along" and uphold suspensions.
I DARE Goodell to even think of doing this.

We have Goodell on the run now. Pursue everything.

Goodell is fricked because there is absolutely no way in hell he can prove the intent to injure facet of the case. However, there could be suspensions levied on the salary cap issue if one of those players earned the bounty and it exceeded the Saints salary cap. The Saints players financials would have a bearing on that aspect.
We're talking, at most, probably in the $30k range. I've never seen anyone THAT close to the cap. Plus in 2010 there was no cap.
As for those asking how this affects THIS year's cap, both Vilma and Smith restructured their deals, so neither is a huge cap hit this year. Vilma is either going to be $1.6m or $2.2m (he has a roster bonus, but I don't know if the roster bonus kicks in on Sunday, or maybe it already passed). Not sure about Smith. Rotoworld has older contract info on him, I'm 95% sure he restructured this past offseason, but they still have his 08 contract up there. They said his roster bonus this season was due on 3/27, though, showing that the deadline certainly can and does get set before week 1. I don't know if a suspended player is considered on the roster or not.
I'd venture to guess that we've gone from about $8m in cap space to, at worst about $5m. Remember, only 25% of Smith's contract will be affected.

Oh and
Falcons..
quote:
Well then that's BS. They got away scotch-free? Wow. If it were some other team like the Jags, they never would have been overturned.

Vilma nor Smith were impact players because the D sucked anyway. The Falcons will still have their way with the Taints.
quote:
of course they won.
They had a bounty on a judge.
quote:
Doesn't really matter Vilma is a bum with a bum knee and Smith is no threat...I actually am glad they have all of their hoodlum players back so no excuses when we stomp that azz....

So, apparently you can get away with whatever you want in this league, as long as you make an *** of yourself on National television. Who knew?

This is complete BULLSH*T!!! Sick and tired about hearing these Saints players appealing this and appealing that. Take the f*cking punishment like a man and serve the f*cking suspension

Albert Breer ?@AlbertBreer
... The important piece here is if Goodell does suspended the four Saints again, this time, is HAS to be specifically for pay-to-injure.

Not Bill Walton ?@NotBillWalton
Roger Goodell has so much egg on his face that he can scramble it. And once he scrambles, Jonathan Vilma should shove him in the ground.
