Saints get docked for taking a top offensive tackle instead of a qb who is still on the board? By their logic taking a player who’s gonna go at the earliest 33 made more sense?

The Saints had been linked to quarterbacks throughout the pre-draft process, but the prudent approach was always to build up the offensive infrastructure to set up their future quarterback for success. Banks allowed the lowest pressure rate (2.1%) of any left tackle in the Power Four over the past two seasons, and did so on more pass-blocking snaps than any other player. He should help keep the pockets cleaner in New Orleans.

Everybody read this. Moore knows what he is doing. This is a trust the process draft. May not be a lot of wow and I'm fine with that.

Yeah you can’t really hammer them for not taking a guy everyone passed on, including one team that came back in to get one. At that, your board has the problem, not the saints…but it’s bleacher report so

Butt hurt over passing on Sanders who may actually be there in the 2nd round.

he Banks selection is merely covering up previous mistakes.

This is the best quote. According to BR, we should just live with our previous mistakes and trying to correct them is a bad idea. We got an F not really for this pick but for NOT picking who they wanted us to pick AND for not making good picks in previous drafts...

2025 NFL Draft: Snap grades for all 32 teams on Day 1

Published: Apr 25, 2025 at 03:05 AM

Chad Reuter NFL.com

Grade
B

Round 1 (No. 9): OT Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas

Analysis:

Banks was the fourth offensive lineman selected by the Saints in the first round over the past six years.

They clearly had a need, though, with Ryan Ramczyk retiring and Trevor Penning in a contract year.
Banks’ draft stock seemed to fluctuate quite a bit during the evaluation process.

He’s not an elite athlete and had some issues with overextending during his Texas career.

Banks has a chance to be a great addition, but the Saints also could have used a corner like Jahdae Barron or another big-play receiver in Matthew Golden at No. 9.

They might have found better value by picking a tight end (Colston Loveland or Tyler Warren) or addressing their need off the edge (Mykel Williams).

The same bleacher report that graded the 2012 Seattle Seahawks complete draft class an F. The make up of that draft led to 2 straight super bowls 3 years later. They drafted 2 first ballot HOFers in that draft so if they grade this pick an F that lets me know maybe we are onto something.

Of course they regraded it in 2018 trying to save face as an A or B+.

PFF graded it as a B+ from the start. I trust them I don’t trust anything related to BR.

Idiots. We picked a highly rated player at a position of need, a guy who wouldn't have made it past Dallas at #12, but we get an F because we didn't draft a player that every other team also passed on in round1.

Hey Bleacher Report, what's it like to be retarded?

if we would have drafted jalon walker, it would be an A draft selection pick. muh great value... in reality he slipped to 15.

reality is that banks probably would have still been a top 13 pick if saints passed on him but muh bad value. guess we'll never know but...

Maybe the saints drafted offensive line in the first round so when they get sanders in the second round he will have one less thing for his daddy to complain about.
