Anyone else have a feeling we have entered the No Man's Land era?

What I mean by this is, instead of going full rebuild after our legendary QB and HC both left out of our "Golden Era"...we decided to keep it going with the old HCs staff and system, but instead we get a watered down version of it that isn't as good and keeps you mediocre instead of being either terrible or great.

Obviously I am not giving up on DA/JW or this season just two games in.

But a small part of me is deeply suspicious that we are entering an era where we are perpetually in the treadmill, borderline playoff team to mediocre, cycling through mid-tier at best QBs trying to find an answer, with a coach that is a good Coordinator and a competent HC but nothing special. Winning enough games to be ok, not losing enough to tank.

Don't come at me. Its just a suspicion not a condemnation.

I don't blame DA for wanting to try and keep the chemistry for his defense, but the offense should have seen an injection of new blood. Massive, waving red flag that Carmichael basically had to be talked into taking the job.

Loomis doesn’t do rebuilds, he seems to always plan for us to be competitive. Every year with Saints is a No Man’s Land though, even with SP and Brees we never knew, 09 being an outlier

We were doing great until Winston starting sharting the bed. Only mistake coaches made was not putting Dalton in when he was obviously injured.

Winston did better with far worse last year. I'm afraid we're seeing how much influence/genius Payton had over the offense. There will be some growing pains.

So did Tom Brady. It was just that kind of game.

True, but Tom Brady has a track record of being great and just struggling with the Saints D.

Winston has been fairly mediocre yard and points wise in a Saints Uni against almost every team we have played.

And yet we’re still in position to win before 3 turnovers and the 17 points that came with them. Tompa is still the betting favorite to be in the SB. If our defense wasn’t elite this could’ve been one of the biggest Saint blowouts of the 21st century

A loss to Tampa isn’t the game to melt over. But if Winston cannot protect the ball it’ll be a long season

Control the football and play defense. Be consistent and get hot when it matters

The pillars are in place for sustained success. If JW and the staff ain’t i they’re easy to get out from under.

Trying not to sound like a smartass.

But... did you notice we lost a first ballot HoF'er and our coach since 2006?

And you can't blow it all up with a top 5 defence. You just can't. The O looks terrible and ST have not shined either. I'm going to give them some time to pull it together before calling it a season.

JW's back is a major concern. We saw Drew play hurt when he should have sat. I hope the coaches make the right choice this time around.

What do you call Mike Thomas, Jarvis Landry, and Chris Olave; not to mention Taysom Hill going back to a gadget role. This is a completely different offense from last season.

I wouldn't say that just yet. When you consider how good this team can be and the outlook of the NFC; the team is close to being a SB contender (I think NFC losses SB this year, but NFC is not deep). So Allen wanted some consistency, can't blame him there. With that said, if he does the loyalty thing with the coaches like Payton did at the beginning of his tenure; then we will be stuck in the dreaded 7-10 win "No Man's Land".

If the offense doesn't get more dynamic, there needs to be a change. If JW knows the playbook, then change the play caller. If JW doesn't know the playbook so they scale it back for him, change the QB. I'll take a lesser QB in a more dynamic offense, then a more talented QB in a basic offense

We have been in No Man's Land since 2019. Brees' arm was shot, so we were good enough to get to the playoffs, but not a threat to beat an elite defense.

Definitely not melting here.

Just...suspicions based on last year and this offseason, and what we have seen so far.

The defense is still good but had some attrition, and the offense just seems like a fading mirage of the CSP era Offense.

It's been that way, the saints org just keeps slapping lipstick on a pig and still trying to compete for SBs like its 2009...

ITS NOT 2009 ANYMORE DORTHY....

Need some new JUICE in the building... SP created a great culture, build on it...don't try to be SP..
