Flip the script. Why would a coach as an outsider come in for an interview when you know your competition is a coordinator that has been in the role for five years and has had a top tier defense in that time. What are you going to bring to the organization that this internal coach does not have?

No because in this case the Saints had their guy internally and looked outside for the "WOW factor" and didn't see it.
Now if they had hired from outside and it was a white guy we would be roasted.
