Allen wants Carr as a hailmary attempt to save his job next year.

If I were in his shoes, I would do the same thing. If they make the playoffs, then he gets another year. If they don't he is fired. Even if it's a tank season, he loses his job. He must find a qb or its over for him and he knows it even if it's a middle of the pack qb. One that's not good enough to win a superbowel but good enough to ensure we don't get a top rated qb in the draft.

I don't think Allen gives enough fricks about his job. He doesn't care if he gets fired, he has enough money to live comfortably and someone will give him a high paying defensive job.
If he cared, he would have done something with the coaching staff.

I can promise you Carr won’t save his job might help him him get fired.

What if they make the playoffs and they become a good team and maybe DA isn’t a terrible coach he was just given a shite platter by Payton???

He did, fired his two headed defensive coordinators and hired his bff to run the defense.

Is it surprising that the head coach wants the team to be better?

He cares. However, the problem lies within the fact that he has not the wherewithal to hire a competent staff, in much the same way Ed Orgeron lacked the ability to do the same. I'm hoping Dennis proves me wrong im my bet for him to fail in his much envied position of head coach of an NFL team, although no signs seem to coordinate to a position of optimal function of an NFL franchise under his supervision.

The same reason ownership doesn’t really care about firing Allen.

I still cannot believe that we kept our offensive coordinator. Officer playcalling was very weak.

This is where the weakness of Loomis comes in.
It is the difference between building a team and building a franchise.
Loomis is constantly building a team from year to year without any thought of the future. Trading away future draft picks and pushing salary cap numbers into the future.
One play is to get Carr and maybe win the division for the next 2 years. Sadly that is all we will accomplish and will likely turn out like Tampa this year with an opening round loss. We will draft between 15-22 near the higher end if we miss the playoffs and near the 20-22 mark if we do.
This strategy will lead us to never drafting high enough to get a QB draft pick.

Based on what?

Sure he does… we just have to hope that the front office is only willing to dip so much into our future value to improve his chances

Is there a HC in football to which this statement doesn't apply?
