For a lottery ticket that may or may not pan out. Glad we got Carr and only paid what we had to in salary.

Panthers bought hope.

Saints bought a decent used Carr.

They can evaluate, workout and interview players and the develope him, build an offense around him, It’s not totally random.

As if teams didn't "evaluate, workout and interview" Sam Darnold, Zach Wilson, Mitch Trubisky, Blake Bortles, Blaine Gabbert, and a zillion other top 5 busts. It is definitely a crapshoot. Way more fail than succeed.

That’s why I could never make big moves like that in drafts. Too risky imo

Giving up DJ Moore is crazy. He’s such an underrated player.

I like and respect a team taking risks If they hit on the pick it will feel like they gave up nothing

Aaron Rodgers looked like crap this year with no one to throw to. I would think their rookie qb is gonna have a really tough season unless they come up with some weapons

49ers almost made it to the fricking Super Bowl with the last pick of the draft. So let Carolina sell the farm for the first overall pick.

What a bunch of dumbasses!

If is a huge word. Especially when it comes to picking a QB in the top 5. We've seen very talented players bust, or end up being just average players. Some of the best evaluators get it wrong when it comes to quarterback. And this season there doesn't look to be any sure fire studs at QB imo.

if they didn't want to have to pay him down the road then okay, I guess I can see that, but they also traded potential picks that they could have used to replace him.

Chicago is getting in position to be very relevant in that division within a few years

Not saying it won’t happen, but zero QB’s who came from the Ohio State system have been good in the NFL. Something doesn’t translate. As such, hoping Carolina picks Stroud.

And no, Burrow is not of that system, which is why he never sniffed starting a game.

Fields seems good but not sure yet. Haskins was a complete bust. Other guys like Cardell Jones, JT Barrett, Braxton Miller all sucked.

You literally will never see anything like a Brock Purdy situation again in your lifetime.

Not only that but OSU is usually stacked with receiver talent. Stroud will be playing with way worse receiver talent on his new team compared to the multiple first rounders he’s had the last couple years.

History is a pretty good indicator that trading up especially to the #1 pick fails more times than it succeeds in terms of QBs.

I am pretty much of the same opinion. This is not the crop of QB's to pay this kind of price. I can only imagine what it would have cost the Saints to do the same. This makes the decision to acquire Carr even more reasonable.

I thought they gave very little. Really two 2nds and 1 1st with player.
I think the swap being at #9 made the bears feel good about still getting their guy.
