re: After scuffle at camp, Penning gets annihilated on several consecutive plays

I'm not that worried about LG. Patrick i'm assuming will be starter and has skins on the wall. He should be an upgrade to Hurst past year or two.

I am more concerned with RT being average. I'm still slightly hopeful Penning can continue getting better... he has to come from a long way down the trash can. Udoh is a solid vet that can give us meaningful snaps if needed. Not sure where Young is at this point.

We seem to be incredibly thin at Tackle. I see some veteran journeymen, some rookies and nothing in between.

Penning is 6’7”. DTs would get under him so quick you’d think he was playing on roller skates. If that was the solution it would have been tried already….the Saints don’t want a bust here.

If Penning is flummoxed on the edge, inside stunts and LB/S blitzes would eat him alive.

Sign Bahktiari (sp?) and move penning to G. Give him until game 1 or 2 to see how he does. If he is the same, let him sit as the 53rd man on the roster and not dress each week.

Doesn’t mean penning will work but there are many large, successful guards out there

Maybe he’ll get in a fight and ejected every game and Carr will live thru the season?

These preseason games will be telling. Penning was getting beat like a drum this time last year.
