I think we will need 7 of 9 to get to 10-6 to be guaranteed a wild-card spot.

Even that might not do it. You have some long odds to have 3 playoff teams come out of the same division. The only thing we have going in our favor in our bid for the WC over Atlanta is they have a lot of divisional football ahead of them (5 games vs. our 3), plus if we beat them again we win the tie-breaker. I want to see this team win against the Giants before I really invest myself in the rest of this season. If we can't beat the Giants in their current condition we really have no shot at capitalizing on the rest of the schedule.

We just gotta handle our business and see how the rest plays out. Team has improved each week lately so I think we can make a good run these next few games

I was actually surprised to see us favored over the Giants by 3.

Have to beat the giants if we want a chance at the WC. Otherwise we'll only be able to lose one more time this season to have a good shot at the WC, and I don't see that happening

You rarely have three teams from the same division getting to 10 wins. That's why you rarely see three teams going.

If we get to 10 wins we have a damn good chance but I agree it isn't guaranteed. Puts us at better than 50/50.

9 wins likely won't cut it since all 4 of our loses were in conference, meaning we already have several tie breakers going against us.

10-6 will be a coin flip. Isn't Minn the current 6 seed at 5-2 or something?

You always get 3 at home, so basically they think it's a pick em.

I think whoever doesn't win the division between Atlanta and Carolina will get one of the two wildcard spots. So, I think the NFC South would need to earn both of the wildcard spots for us to make it in. Both wildcard spots would be a far cry from last years NFC South. Right now though, that looks pretty doable. The Vikings in the NFC North are playing ok. I kind of expect one of the NFC East teams to start playing competitive football. It's an uphill battle, but I agree with the OP, 10-6 is probably about right.

I think you'll all be surprised by the record of the 6th seed in the NFC. They will be 10-6 or 9-7 for sure.

Right now the top 5 looks pretty locked in (IMO):

Packers
Panthers/Falcons
Cards
East Winner
Panthers/Falcons

The 6th spot is then pretty wide open. Right now it's held by 4-2 Minnesota who looks pretty average and still has to play the Packers twice.

Real contenders for the spot seem to be Minnesota, St Louis, Seattle and us. We have by far the easiest schedule of that group.

I'm not saying we're gonna do it. I think we will probably Crumble and lose a few in a row at some point and finish 7-9 or 8-8, but it's not totally out of the question YET that we make it.

Ideally, need for Philadelphia to win east because we lose head to head tie breaker. Need Arizona to win the west also.

We would have to win out for a guarantee. We have no room for error. We could possibly have one more loss and still make it. With the teams we lost to already, I don't think 10-6 would get us in. The 2 division losses and the Philly loss put us in a big hole.

Sunday would be a huge win to get us even and keep pace on digging out.
