3 of our 4 "major" moves have been on Defense

Anything to glean from this?

Re-signing Chase Young, Signing Justin Reid, trade for Godchaux

Is it just a matter of NT, S, and Edge were 3 of our biggest needs and the Defense is aging and needs to be addressed more?

Or is it a matter of philosophy, with an offensive HC, he would rather address the Defense with veterans and he would like more focus on Offense via the draft?

(or, simply a matter of coincidence and how things worked out this year?)

I wouldnt think anything of it. We can't just cut all of the mediocre players like people are suggesting. Someone has to be on the field. We cannot draft an entire team. The teamwill not be fixed this year.

Makes you wonder but who knows.

I guess I can add this here, it seems like the “secret” is that we love Tyler Warren. Nick Underhill believes he’ll be the pick if there.

This makes the JJ move all the more weird.

You have 3 TEs that you are pot committed to money wise. And you draft a 4th very high?

I'd understand it if we were a much more talented team. TEs can take a year or 3 to develop. We just don't have that luxury. We are one of the least talented teams there is

Young was a retention, which was said we wanted to retain him, so I don't think we should read into that. Reid was an upgrade at safety over Harris, who was serviceable but it appears we wanted more than just serviceable at that important FS spot.

Godchaux is definitely the one that sticks out most, as I feel it was a move to grab a true NT, feeling like the guys we had probably can't effectively fill that role down after down, game after game.

But FA isn't over, so I wouldn't judge us going more defense than offense to mean anything. We still need a replacement for Adebo and even Lattimore. We need a replacement for/resigning of Patrick. And for WR I think we are waiting for the market to shake out a bit more and see what Cooper gets before grabbing another older vet for cheap.

While we still need some other things, like OLine depth, that comes through the draft or later in FA. Right now people are trying to fill immediate holes or upgrade, and that is what we have done to this point.

Yeah I love Warren as a prospect. But I wouldn’t take him over Graham, McMillan or even one of the higher rated edge guys like Walker, Williams or Stewart.

Taysom is VERY cuttable post June 1st. It will depend on if they feel he is worth his current contract for what he brings and his age and injury history. They may ask him to take a pay cut or restructure like Tyrann, and if he refuses he'll likely see the door I think.

Warren makes substantially more sense if Taysom is a June 1st cut, I'll give you that.

Meant to put this in the other post, but he saves 10 mil on the cap this year if cut post June 1st. I just don't see us leaving him at that number at his age and injury history, no matter how much I love the player's passion and go get it attitude.

Taysom Hill - Coming off major knee injury suffered Dec. 1st
Foster Moreau - Coming off a knee injury suffered on Jan 5th
Dallin Holker - Rookie UDFA
Juan Johnson - TE2 at best.

I can see why they overpaid for Johnson as insurance and would draft Warren at 9 if available.
