I agree with this pick. The Saints are disappointed with Fauga, and want to replace him. Not a bust, but close to it. Unbelievable !!!!

OL should pretty much be off the list for first round selections. Literally any other position on the field than OL. We've invested so much the past few years.

The Saints will win another game… maybe 2 with the crappy competition remaining on the schedule.

Sucks for the draft position.

You may be picking anywhere from #8 to #12. …who knows ??

Their 1st rd pick will either be (Not in this order) the following :

OL
DL or OLB/DE
WR
S

I am so sick of this bullshite, can't we ever evaluate each position individually on the OL?

Fuaga was projected as an elite guard/high level tackle last year.

While I want Reese or Downs, I like the pick of getting a RT. Fuaga has struggled on the right side. I like moving him to LG next to Banks. At that point you sign a FA RG and make Ruiz a backup center and all of a sudden you fix the entire OL in an offseason. Pick Boston, Ball or Bazell in the second and you have a really good young offense.

It’s not a sexy pick, and I think Fano is rated higher than Mauigoa by most people, but it would be a smart pick.

Fuaga to RG
And then 2027 we can move Banks to Lg

Win win win

An elite OL can do amazing things. I’m never ever gonna be mad at a top pick being an OL. Do it every year, ESPECIALLY if you have a qb you trust

WR is not a premium position

FA dollars say otherwise.

We had several posters on here saying we had to trade Shaheed b/c he was going to get paid 25 million a year.

Since you think DT is a premium position, the 2nd highest paid DT in the entire NFL is making 27 a year for contrast…

A borderline 2/3 receiver making what a top of the ladder DT makes. Numbers overwhelming contradict what you believe….

Hate the thought of another OT pick, but drafting giant Samoans is rarely a bad idea
isn't drafting Mauigoa implying that our last giant Samoan top 15 pick failed?

Great, another OL pick, with a bunch of slow, hurt, not very good skill position players.

It’s more of an indictment on our top 25 pick from 2020. Ruiz is one of the worst lineman in the league and replacing him is a must. Fuaga would kill it inside.

This team sorely needs playmakers. Address OL issues in later rounds or through trades/free agency, with depth more the goal than going for a stud starter. I repeat: this team needs playmakers. We literally have NO ONE AT ANY POSITION who scares opposing defenses now that Shaheed is gone.

I know he had the injury, but if it looks like he will get back to speed reasonably soon, I would love taking Chris Bell if we can get him very late in the first or early in the second round. I know they never do it, but I think this would be a great draft to trade back so that we have two first rounders instead of one, and I would make sure one of them is a game breaking, contested catch, YAC guy.

Go back and watch him Sunday. About 40% of the pass plays he was just hand fighting with the DL as the DL ran right by him. It’s pouring rain all game and his jersey doesn’t have a single stain on it. We MUST get him off the line and off the team. Until we do DL will just keep running right by him and it doesn’t matter what the other OL do.

Based on this mock draft, I would go Caleb Downs. He may be the only generational player in top 10. We need to start hitting on elite players.

I’m not disagreeing. But I’d rather not take the Bengals route where we find a QB and get him killed every year because we just get playmakers and skimp on offensive lineman.

The saints haven’t skimped on OL is the problem; they’re just not that great as a unit. We can upgrade the guards without using a R1 pick.

Saints are not drafting 5 after winning the rest of the games.

1. We aren't picking top five anymore
2. Why we need to build our line, I think you give fuaga a little more time and you draft a guard in the second or third.
3. Shough needs playmakers

It’s been good and bad. Banks and McCoy have been good. Fuaga was good last year but has been bad this year. I think moving back to the left and putting him a guard would fix all that. Ruiz and Penning were bad picks. I partially blame the Covid year for Ruiz, but still. That’s 3 good and 2 terrible.

And let’s be honest, it’s not like Ruiz and Penning were top 10 picks, they were later in the first. Not an excuse, but this year will likely be a top 10 pick.
