I hope he gets some reps with the ones in pre season. I wasn’t impressed last pre season.

His pre season film/stats with the Jets was really good. 17/23 for 212 yds and 2 TDs.

no, but I hope you dont look at Teddy just from week 17. He can play, but we are risking the fact that he hasnt played in a while.

This is a shirty deal for the Saints. Using up a good bit of cap space this season for a backup that isn’t locked in after next season should Brees retire and Teddy then has all the leverage in negotiations.

Depends if you trust CSP after being with a QB for almost a year?
Also if you trust a 1st rnd QB with a winning record coming to the Saints?

This makes no sense to me, if we were going to commit this much in one year, why not just sign him long term as the heir?

like i said before, i think we would have been better off doing a 4-5yr deal, but i had no idea at this level.

Wouldn't you rather have more flexibility with contracts than less? Both sides may be a bit gun shy to go 4-5 years. Teddy may feel he could outplay a low money 5 year deal, and maybe we want to set up something that starts low and offers crazy incentives later in the deal. We'd start next year when Brees' dead money hits.

There really aren't a ton of comparable situations in the NFL to this.

What leverage? He hasn't played in years. Saints aren't breaking the bank on an unknown. He is the future until we draft his replacement.

I live the guy, but giving up the draft picks and paying this salary for someone who didn't see the field last year and hopefully won't this year is severely risky.

Didn’t breeze restructured so we are still spending significantly less on QBs
