Then why not sign him to a longer contract if it is known to be Drew's last year? Seems like we lose leverage in future negotiations if Drew is gone and he is a FA.

Maybe, but signing him to a 1 year deal puts a lot of leverage in the hands of the QBs next offseason.

Well you can’t force him to sign a long term deal. He probably wanted the one year deal. It was either that or Miami.

well if all parties know heading into next season that teddy is going to be our starter, teddy will be expected to be paid accordingly. probably low end starter money.
