Zion absolutely had some lazy lapses last night. At 7:37 last night, AD said, "You can't fall asleep on the baseline, and someone did." Wanna guess who was standing in the corner playing All Star Game defense?

His defensive effort overall was better. I admit he had a lapse but to me if he can continue to give this kind of effort that’ll go a long way. He also had a tremendous block- that jose basically turned over. Again lapses happen but if hes scoring with aggression like ghis consistently and giving effort on defense- thats progress. I say that and he’s questionable with a sprained ankle lol

With no curve, there's more to be desired.

Running the offense through Zion=good

Zion 17 shots, and Trey 10 3pt attempts. This is the way.

That's putting it mildly.
A fully in shape Zion prime should be a plus if not elite defender with his athleticism.

And we have people saying we shouldn't expect more and that's respectable and enough blocks based on his size and athleticism.

It's why guys like chuck and Shaq and kenny kept cutting off people saying Zion could be good. They're saying he has literal "greatness" in him. Legit nba dudes are saying he could be the best player in the league if he ever gets it together.
And here's the real fricking rub: what would you put Zions potential realized at right now? 50%? 60%? If he was just at 80% as good as he should be we'd be wrecking fricks night in and night out.

I made a post in another thread touching on expectations. There's obviously always going to be people who are piling on just to hate. But I think some of the folks being labeled as anti Zion or going too far are actually the folks who think the most of a peak Zion and peak Pels team. We see what this team could be. I think the other folks trying to excuse every little move...it truly seems that they're just happy to fight for play ins and don't truly think Zion is a top 5 talent, so they're happy and content with what they're seeing.
It's almost counter to what you'd think. I truly think the ones who are being tough on him(but not jerks about it) are probably the ones who see the potential the most, and that's why they're frustrated. The ones excusing it, they're just good with having him as is.

That is eye-opening. Wonder if B.I. can accept that for the betterment of the team.
Staggering both of them mid 1st-3rd quarter might allow both to realize their numbers. Z gotta shed a Lil bit to be able to run with that 2nd team of shooters for an extended period at Center.

certainly prefer Zion to be super aggressive and active on defense like he was tonight, but it definitely just pisses me off even more about his nonsense last game lol.
I think he is depressed. All this shite has to weigh on him. He brought all the hate on himself, but be is an immature person.
The other day his face wasn't shaved and he looked like a mess. I had never seen him like that. You could tell he is going through something.

BI is really lucky for Zion being so bad and out of shape against the Lakers, because BI was also terrible, lacked aggression, and played very lazy basketball.
Our 3 through 13 is the best in the league. For the last 5 seasons and up to now, our #1 and #2 dudes are the problem and why we haven't been a winning franchise.
It's not 1 or the other, it's both of them.

With regards to Zion's field goal attempts being low, you can't blame BI.

Yes, I definitely agree with that.
There have been times when BI goes rogue and just dribbles the air out of the ball and bogs shite down and takes shots away from Zion. I personally do not believe that has ben an issue all season. Sure, a possession here or there, but not consistently
But I do believe BI has played within the flow of the offense consistently this season, and any shots Zion isn't getting up is sometimes due to how he's defended, but the real issue, we're seeing more games than you'd like where it's just a lack of aggression from Zion.

The 12 is the 11 of 12 game vs Philly, so I think that one can be excused lol but...of those 5, the crux of the issue is 4 of them have come in 4 of the last 6 games...why is that? I have no idea.
- 1st 14 games - 17.1 FGA per game
- Last 6 games - 11.5 FGA per game. This should never ever ever happen for any sustained amount of games...ever

I agree completely with your point of that low of FGA should never ever happen over a five game stretch. This is where I believe our coaching staff has to be better. First, Zion’s minutes have been way down recently. Playing five less minutes per game will have an effect on FGA. The other issue is the lineups he has been playing with allow defenses to just clog the lane and our staff has done nothing to address it. Zion doesn’t need to be playing with Jose, Naji, and Dyson at the same time. That is poor planning by our staff. We have all said it before but for the Pels to be their best, Zion has to be maximized. Putting him out there with three bad shooters is doing the team, and Zion, absolutely no good.
Posted on 12/13/23 at 12:54 pm to ThePistol
This is what happens when the coaching staff keeps playing hot potato with the #1 option and refuses to enforce a hierarchy. Just pick 1 guy and make the offense revolve around him. Until this is fully established, we are going to see these type of games from Z and BI and their reservation to step on each other's toes is a direct reflection of their coach.

Why not? Granted, I didn’t see the game, but this seems like exactly the Zion we’d want. Minus 30 pounds or so.
