Zion will get hurt this season. Squeeze everything you can from him whenever he is healthy.

I mean this is what we did last year, this Wolves game was a carbon copy of last year game when Zion took over but in reverse.

The shite lakers were playing horrible same time last year and made it to west finals.

The lakers play with a different set of rules than than pelicans. They can rebuild a roster mid season.

The heat went to play-in to nba finals.

And they went to the finals in 2020. This Pels team has no track record of success. 42 wins is the high water mark in the last 5 years.

It’s also dumb to give this team or Zion any benefit of the doubt given the last 4 years.

He should have played. If you are going to load manage his wide load, at least do it on the road and not at home.

Because trading for CJ wasn’t a big move either midseason right? Lakers don’t have a different set of rules- thats just a cop out answer.

It doesn’t matter. No one expected the play-in Heat to make the finals. Nobody.

Its game 13- I think its ok to give them the benefit if the doubt. If this is happening in game 73 I can understand your concern.

The lakers do play by a different set of rules - clearly. They are a league wide destination franchise. We are maybe the last destination anyone wants to play in.

The pelicans have no culture of winning and no track record of winning. Sitting healthy stars for home games, against conference opponents, to position yourself for a playoff is a bold strategy for a team with one playoff series win in the last what - 15 years?

And it’s a f-you to fans who have bought tickets to support this team over the years.

If your 23 year old star is healthy - play him. It really is as simple as that.

And if there is anything to support load management actually produces better health outcomes for players in their 20s - I’m all ears.

Willie sort of put this back on Zion.

Green added, “This was based on communication from him.”

I'm not saying Zion requested to not play, but he probably told the team that he wasn't 100% and they decided to sit him. Trying to keep Zion healthy long term is not an f-you to the fans. Let's just hope they get it right this season.

Fine - it might not be a f-you from the team, but it is from Zion if he sat with bumps and bruises. If you believe Green’s quote, resting Zion on second game of back to back isn’t some pre-planned approach to keep Zion healthy. It’s zion opting for a team L early in the season hoping it doesn’t matter because we’ll make the playoffs regardless and he’d rather rest up than grind.

We need to go 39-30 the rest of the way to win 45 games. A 45 win season is bottom half of the playoffs.

Zion sitting last night says Zion isn’t aspiring to lead a top of the conference team. And that is what bothers me.

Yep, missing a quarter of the season is a win for us with our big two players, I'd love to finally see both of them reach that mark the same year.

Guys, they’ve said from beginning. It’s Zions team with this plan. Not the Pels. The Pels played 30 whatever CJ coming off of off-season surgery on back to backs. And it’s not Zion saying he’s beat up. This was plan from beginning.

PS- Zions team is full of idiots. Whether you agree with this plan or not.

The kings and bucks were top of the conference last year and were ousted in first round. A bottom half playoff team made the nba finals. If you learned anything from last season its about being healthy at the right time not worrying about playoff positioning in November.

Zion is fat, lazy, and stupid.

But right now, he is NOT injured.

Get rid of him NOW while he still has a little value.

Hopefully they’ve been shopping him and it’s just a matter of time.

It wasn't even just a B2B. It was also a 3rd game in 4 days.

Muscles that are sore or slightly strained are vulnerable in that kind of situation, and Zion takes a pounding every game in a way that other players do not.

I'll be surprised if there's another rest game for Zion this season. He's physically much better now than he was on opening night.

I agree with that - id rather this team be a bottom half playoff team and healthy than a top seed and injured.

But I don’t think that’s the choice at hand, and I don’t think resting Zion now does anything to ensure his health in April/May.

What I took from last year is this team needs more 3 pt shooting and needs Zion to commit to reaching his ceiling. When I see Zion needing two rest days through the first 13 games I question if Zion has made the decision we need him to make.

I don’t see a problem with limiting minutes, but to not play at all is just ridiculous.

If this leads to Zion playing 60+ games and is available to make the stretch run in February-April, I'll be goddamn happy.

I don’t think this is accurate at all. No one to my knowledge has said this.

Everything I have seen mentions this is THE team taking the approach, not his team.

I read a quote from Willie in the Advocate yesterday that seems to contradict this...."we decided to hold him out tonight," Green added "this was based on communication from him".

He didn't have to add that....but he did.

It was said after the first rest game. And it was collaborative between Zion and the team
