Ah yes the season is definitely gonna be cancelled, even though they had 0% positive tests and the scrimmages start tomorrow...

This was the deal when they agreed to not charge him for accepting money at DUKE
You're a strange man.
Anyway, it's weird. Other dudes in the NBA are leaving for the same reason. If a relative had COVID, then why wouldn't they say so? It'd be simpler. And it's not like you can visit a sick relative in the hospital right now. Being present, I get it.
I just hope it's not a repeat of the first time Zion was going to be out for a time and it stretched further and further. He left for an MRI and surgery and won't announce anything until we know the duration.

The more this drags on, the more I am thinking the “family medical emergency” is actually Zion himself. That some anomaly was found in all this bubble testing or some odd injury required him to go get more information and specialist treatment.

It is possible but I think we would know if that was the case.

I think it may be a blessing in disguise that the new FO keeps everything so quiet. But, we are 6 days out on Zion being gone and we haven't gotten any news besides he cramped up during practice.

If that was it, it would have leaked already imo. There are people out there that know, and in today’s age of always being first on Twitter somebody would have said something by now.
The fact that they haven’t leads me to believe it’s something pretty serious.

This fan base is so scarred...
For those of you that need something besides the worst case scenarios to fill the information void, a cancer diagnosis of a relative fits what we're seeing pretty well
Cancer is:
- Serious/Taboo enough societally that if someone did find out they might actually keep it quiet.
- Is often diagnosed and treated in relatively private settings.
- Scary enough that Zion would want to go home and offer moral support, especially if it's an immediate family member.
If this is the case then hopefully it was caught early and is one of the cancers we're good at treating so Zion can feel ok about returning to the bubble.

Exactly. Its clear that everyone on the team knows and likely several national media members as well.
There's no chance that media would sit on a Zion injury story for this long. No chance.
They are much more likely to honor the privacy of a family member that is sick with something serious. That is what it is.

Sports center just mentioned he has been getting constant tests while he been away to "speed up his Quarantine process" once he returns. Lol so basically if he is good health wise they gonna get him back sooner than later.
Posted on 7/22/20 at 12:29 pm to Silverfoxx
That’s because that’s the rules for an excused absence.
He needs to have 7 days of negative tests to be able to go to a 4 day quarantine.

Makes me hope he knows exactly how long he can be out and still make the first game. Hopefully that’s the plan.

He would have to come back before the 26th ( Sunday )
Posted on 7/22/20 at 12:49 pm to Smedium27
As I've said, I think he needs to be back by tomorrow. He would need 2-3 days of practice after Quarantine to get into game shape.

Let's hope whatever he is doing now he is staying in somewhat good shape. So he can do the whole 5 minute spurts like he did before before he is fully ready

He would have been fully ready had he not left

I haven’t seen any discussion on this anywhere. This would be significant as it would be the first and only info since he left. What hour of sportscenter?
Posted on 7/22/20 at 1:51 pm to Blackfield
It was about a hour ago live. If you have the ESPN app I would check the noon posting
