It's funny because for the last decade, if you went on NBA 2K and did a fantasy draft where you build your own team, you couldn't possibly cobble together our existing roster because certain players would be gone before your next pick comes around...
Meaning the talent/rating of our players was considerably higher than the product we got out of them on the court. Which points to either (a) pathetic coaching or (b) miserable fit....... or both

This team has plenty of talent to win games.

I'd say they're a pretty decent representation of the perceived value of each player, especially in a fantasy draft where the AI takes age and potential into consideration..
Its very difficult to put together this roster if every team starts from 0 in a re-draft. The problem is the team overall still doesn't have a star player, or a shooter, or a rebounder...
The talent is there at the player level but they fit together horribly at the team level

Objectively looking at this team, it should be good. Zion is one of about 15 real difference-makers in the NBA. Murray is a true lead guard, Trey is a unicorn that every team wants, and Herb is the perfect dirty work guy. Fears and Queen should feast on 2nd teams and we have other playable pieces. If we traded Poole for any positive at center, I don't see why this team couldn't be at least a playin team. We also have a new coach who always had his team in the playoff conversation.
Now, I am a Pels fan so I know Zion is a fat frick, Dumars is 30 years behind, our roster will never actually play together, and our front office is more likely to extend Poole than trade him. But from the outside, we should be a closer to 40 win team, not a 26.

Trey Murphy can easily be taken in the 1st round.
Zion 2nd
And on down the line, I see no world where all these guys are taken in early rounds.
The Pelicans players, as a whole, are not very good.

These are the only teams I feel confident saying we will be better than next season. Clippers have a higher win total than us but I just refuse to believe they’ll be anything but a disaster this year.

I don’t think we’ve done anything to belong in this group as of now.
No one else is worth talking about in regards to catching/surpassing them this season barring catastrophic injury luck.

Probably we will be behind Suns and Blazers (unless Ja completely kills their dressing room), but GSW were 12-26 after Butler injury, so why do you think they will be better with their aging roster?
