Who will be the better player in the league in your view?

Ayton v RJ Barrett
Ayton v Culver
Ayton v Garland

The better player, or the more impactful player? I would probably take Barrett and Garland (I actually like Garland over Barrett) over Ayton as more impactful players, I don’t know that much about Culver. I just think it’s hard to build a team around a scoring big (with no 3 pt shot), who is below average on defense.

Then a lot of professional scouts should be out of work considering the various misses that happen every year in the NBA draft.

Oh god yes. I remember teams “Riggin’ For Wiggins”.

People pretend that Wiggins wasn’t so extremely hyped as a pick because he has underwhelmed so much, but the perception of him at the time of the draft was a sure thing. As opposed to someone like Michael Bennett.

BJL went all in on wiggins

and fletcher loves the fact that his trade that has no chance of happening garnered 8 pages on Pels Talk

Yeah, I mean if he starts shouting 3’s and ups his defense to about average, then I would lean that way I suppose.

KAT obviously over Wiggins.

Wiggins is junk. Not exactly what I would target for a wing

Barrett has way more upside & I think Shai does too

>Can guard 3 positions
>Elite defender
>Solid playmaker that's smart and makes the right play
>excels at off motion ball plays
>Good enough athlete
>Quality Rebounder

>Jack of all trades master of none
>Streaky af shooter and shot selection can get wonky
>Not the athlete or upside RJ has

Right, but they all have that guy at 1.4 that they think is next

4 to 6 is a pretty big jump knowing with each spot down the lottery, your chances of finding the next big thing diminish quickly. Of course there are always outliers, but value in a vacuum is what it is

I like SGA a lot but you are vastly overrating him.

They were legitimately wondering if it would match 03

It was a very solid draft but they waaaaay overhyped it

I know he played heavy minutes on a playoff team as a 20yr old, and played damn good. He’s long, efficient, and multi dimensional. You want your Brogdon, here he is

And that given his situation coming out of college, was likely underrated.

I agree with you to a certain degree, I like him a lot.

But his PER was 13.4. That’s Dennis Smith territory.

Ayton’s was 20.5.

You don’t think Ayton is being vastly overrated here?

People are speaking if him like he’s guaranteed to improve his shooting, defense, passing, ability to get to the line etc

SGA doesn’t get the benefit of such projectability?

if both hypothetically reach their peak and max out their skills wouldn’t you want SGA

What? Of course not. Ayton’s ceiling is way higher and he had a better rookie season.

How is that even a question?

I understand you’re obsessed with position. Trust me, I want wings. No one has beat the drums for our aversion to wings more than me.

I can't believe one of Fletch's cockamamie trade ideas has us going 9 pages deep so far

It has more merit to it than a lot of the “trade ideas” thrown around involving the Lakers or Knicks.

Ayton has the higher, more realistic upside.

And also, Ayton is being more underrated than he is overrated IMO. I'm pretty sure LE said he'd take #6 overall over Ayton.
