but is that the return you want for AD and who you want to pair with Zion...There is some allure to Ayton being the 1 overall and getting heavy minutes on a bad team. I dont think Griffin would go for it

this is what I constantly come back to in the AD trade. "what is one of the most difficult thing/things to find in the NBA?" I always come back to above average small forwards and above average guards.

is DeAndre Ayton with Zion and attractive combination? absolutely. there is so much talent there. but today's game is played on the perimeter

that's why even though it might not be the sexiest trade, Tatum & Brown is what I want.

Did Fletcher portray this as something he heard from his "sources" or another one of his fantasy trade machine ideas?

I’m not saying we HAVE to do a Phoenix trade, just that putting up Ayton, Warren, and the 6 gets them into the discussion.

That’s a high pick along with two players which we would have a lot of control over, as opposed to the 4th pick and a bunch of players on expiring contracts.

It was more of a fantasy trade machine thing, just an outside the box team that has assets.

I'd say 6 pick and Ayton are near equals as "the" piece of trade.

Ayton would probably be drafted 6-10 in this year's draft

2nd asset in this trade is far better than NYK's 2nd best asset.

Everything you've been saying is making it seem like he's going to be THE piece for the team. You're thing was a team cant win with a good big. Thats not true. And he's a potential top 5 big man who would be a 2-3 option on the team. No other team in the NBA has that.

I agree. There's no argument that Ayton/Warren/#6 is a strong offer. But I want my SF of the future

a core of Jrue/Tatum/Zion makes me very excited about the future

He went #1 in one of the most stacked drafts in recent years.

He meant the biggest piece of the trade, ie the centerpiece of the trade package.

He'd almost certainly go #2 behind Zion.

But go look at the other posts. Thats not what we've been talking about. I realize not wanting him as the best piece in a trade, thats fair enough.

Ok time for your nap. Last years draft was loaded and he was the consensus #1. Depending on the need, he would be an easy #2 pick this year.

Also, he'll probably finish 3rd in the ROY award.

Who's the most valuable individual piece we've seen mentioned so far?

No order:
Ayton
Tatum
SGA
#3 or Robinson
#4

Whatever we get for AD doesn't have to be a cornerstone for our team. It could be an asset we flip for our final piece down the road.

So who above would garner the most back in a trade in about a year taking into account age, potential, and contract?
