And it’s not all on Gentry.

We were a little too enthusiastic about our young roster. The team has some growing pains to endure, as do we. The younger kids are still learning. Vets like Jrue and Favors can only do so much. Not to blow my own horn, but I saw this coming miles away. Let’s check back in after the break and see where we are. It may very well take that much time. Yeah it sucks, but we’re on the right track and I’m far better shape than a few years ago. Sorry, just thinking out loud. I want a winner like everyone else does, but I’ve resigned myself to allowing this current team to develop. If you want Gentry gone, therehad better be a good replacement available and willing without delay.

Good lord dude, is that the only comment you can make? He has played two games

You act like this is the NFL and two games can determine if a player is going to have a good season or not.

Even when he has a bad night offensively, he evens it out with his D. No way in hell Deangelo Russell would have cut through us like butter if Jrue was playing.

Yeah just hand finch the keys and be done with it. Then find your coach in the offseason.

I don’t understand the rationale of letting a loser coach your young team for a couple of years. That’s so damn stupid.

I understand what you are saying and I think the growing pains were displayed in the first 3 games. But games like last night are more than that. They didn't hustle nor did they care. That team last night looked unprepared and unmotivated. That is not growing pains that is incompetence from the top.

I couldn’t watch all of the game, but theimpression I got is that the team didn’t look like they had a sense of urgency.

I agree. We’ve seen these pels teams the last few years also come out unprepared and unmotivated. No fire. No discipline. Playing stupid ball. That’s on the coach. That’s on the culture. If you aren’t just lip service about a culture change, fire the constant. Fire Gentry.

An abrupt firing t this early stage( early for this team) could completely de-rail growth and development of the new roster. The new guys just got here. . Don’t do it unless you at least have a top- notch replacement ready to
Go immediately.

Yea Gentry can go, just not right now. That would be a seriosly bad look. Like we're already giving up on the season. But its not going to happen so I dont think its worth worrying about.

As a very knowledgeable friend pointed out, Gentry should be given time with the new
guys. He never had much say while Demps was in charge. I guess thts what I’m saying, too. That said, I’m not talking about forever.
I’m just willing to let it play out a little longer.

New Orleans Pelicans fans (not all, but most) are the personification of the "instant gratification" times we are living in. Good thing most of you weren't around in the 70's and 80's as Saints fans, probably would have killed yourselves.

Like little kids at Christmas time. "I want to open it now", "Can we open presents?" "Why do we have to wait?" "We're never going to get to open them?

+1 kneejerk "analysis" to fire the coach after every loss is tiresome, but here we are. Gentry has holes. A new coach may do some things better, some worse, the players matter much more.

This team was projected to win ~40 games. This isn't a video game. Players need time to trust each other and their coaches. They have a good mix, they need Zion back. They'll be fine and I would guess they end up somewhere around 40 wins.

Yea I dont think any of us think Gentry is a great coach, but he does deserve some wiggle room. I've said it before, but there isnt a job in basketball that i'd want worse than what Gentry has right now. Rotations are always the complaint, but figuring out rotations for a team that has such a balanced bench and so many new players, I dont want that. Give me the Raptors where every guy on the team has played together before. And if you're someone constantly complaining that Gentry needs to be fired, you're wasting your breath and getting pissed off for no reason, bc like it or not, its not happening anytime soon.

What's wrong with the Pelicans?

- 2nd worst def. rating (116.6)
- Worst def. rebounding (64.8%)
- Most FGAs by opponents 0-5 feet (43.8)
- 10th most wide open 3-pointers allowed (17.8 3PA)
- 2nd most fast break points allowed (20.0)

One side of floor has been shop of horrors.

that's just fans in general. we want to compete for upper echelon/championships now, and if we don't, we boo or call for the coaches head. rinse. repeat
