Spurs didn't have to give up any players in that deal.

They got a steal.

That Charlotte one isn’t going to convey as a first so they likely get seconds out of it.

It is lottery protected through this year then drops off the chart.

They did get a steal. They basically got Fox for 2 1st round picks because the Charlotte and Bulls ones weren’t conveying anyway.

Trade value market has taken a HUGE hit today.

Pelicans are now the bottom feeders of the Division as well as the West. Ouch. The future is bleak.

I'm not much of a big Fox fan, but this for sure.

That's what I was saying earlier. With the 2nd apron it's a new era.

It's a good thing Griff invested the warchest well, it will come in handy in the new trade market

Flipside, how rich is OKC?

OKC has so many 1sts it works against them in trades

Their team is badass so it doesn't matter (and I'm sure they end up with a couple top 5 picks), but that war chest isn't going to amount to what it seems like now.

Wonder if this has Warriors pivot to Ingram?

Either they need to get another guy or trade Steph.

With the way this deadline is going they’ll probably trade Steph to OKC for 2nds

What does a BI to Warriors deal look like?

Most of what I see would involve someone like Andrew Wiggins coming back, which is not really what I’d want no matter how many picks come with him.

I’d say we need a third team to eat contracts or turn one bad deal for a player we can’t use into a bad deal for a player we could use.

Would depend on the 3rd team that gets involved really.

Maybe something with Chicago involved?

Bulls: Wiggins, GP3, JRE, pick from Warriors

Warriors: Ingram, Theis, Green

Pels: Ball, Jalen Smith, Kuminga

With this we could maybe keep Ball around for next season on a small deal to fill in for Murray

Something with Utah

Jazz: Wiggins, Looney

Warriors: Ingram, Green, Theis

Pels: Collins, Kuminga

Yeah, at this point I’m not even thinking about any picks, just want to get a player we can use

People said I was hot taking this offseason, but there's a bunch of paths where Kuminga is a better asset than Zion in 2-ish years. Zion getting hurt (again) really helped out that theory.

Kuminga is also about 2.25 years younger, just FWIW.

Kuminga is never going to hit Zions potential peak, but I think almost all of us agree Zion is not going to his Zion's potential peak anymore, either.

They've been killing the draft, though. The trade value has taken a hit, but it will help a cash-poor team stay elite for a while while avoiding heavy taxes (assuming that they can keep the front office together and they keep drafting at a high level, which is going to be tricky). If they're stuck with picks that they don't want to use, they can sell them (I think for up to $3m) to help with taxes, or trade them for picks years away to kick the can.

But OKC finished first in the west last season, and had a fairly disappointing postseason. If that happens again, I think that they're going to package picks + salary (Hart, Caruso or Dort) to find another legit stud alongside SGA.

Yeah.

If OKC doesn't at least make WCF, they should be buying.

If MIL doesn't at least make ECF, they should probably be selling.

That's actually scary to consider they could buy Giannis, Milwaukee just completely resets (trades Dame, Giannis, Middleton, Portis) and tanks.

A real world possibility of moving Hartenstein, Williams, Wiggins, and multiple picks for Giannis.

PG: SGA, Caruso, Topic
SG: Joe, Wallace
SF: Dort, K Williams
PF: Giannis, J Williams
C: Holmgren, Dieng

fricking scary to think about.

Currently as it stands for picks, OKC owns
2025 - Swap with Houston or LAC
2025 - Miami Top 14 protected; possibly convey
2025 - Philly Top 6 protected; likely won't convey
2025 - Utah top 10 protected, won't convey
2026 - Own pick
2027 - Swap with LAC
2027 - Denver top 5 protected; will convey
2028 - Own pick
2028 - Dallas pick; will convey
2029 - Own pick
2029 - Potentially Denver pick
Load of 2nds

They could very well give up 4 1sts:
2025 their own or Miami
2027 their own or LAC
2028 their own or dallas
2029 their own or denver

And yet they would still have a pick in each of the next 5 years:
2025 - 1st round
2026 - 1st round
2027 - 1st round
2028 - 1st round
2029 - 1st round
