I think he would be incredible on our team. Just not sure how we could tempt the suns to give him up.

What would you be offering for him? And don't give a typical "let us trade our crappy players for your really good one" trade.

The Suns obviously want him on the team, they didn't give him a big contract just to dish him away asap. It would take a boatload to get him.

Yea it's that, and not the fact that CP3 is almost 38 years old.

Man, those were 2 hot takes were rough.

He would also have to agree to be traded for them to even trade him. It's not as black and white as some people want to believe.

Phoenix wants a star player who's wheels aren't about to fall off and they aren't trading him for draft assets.

We don't fit the description of what they're looking for. It makes neither sense for either team.

Paul seems like an a-hole imo. I'm not sure how popular he is in the league outside of his butt buddy banana sling pals.

I think he has always had that streak, but it seems to have gotten worse over the years as he has continually failed to win a title and become more and more bitter about it....But also never willing to make the financial sacrifice to push his way to a ready-made contender.

Phoenix also feels like the perfect place for his best and worse leadership proclivities to flourish. A younger team with a coach that puts the most trust in him, with enough vet guys to back up his approach.

All of that is compounded by a shitty, cheap ownership up until now.

Doesn't shock me Cam Johnson was talking about moving on, Crowder wants out, and you keep hearing drip, drips from national guys about locker room issues.

I don't think I'd go that far personally.

CP3 I just think can be a bit tyrant-like when he knows and is reinforced to be a team's alpha. especially when time and time again CP3 has shown he cant be your main guy if the goal is a championship.

And I think like in Houston, eventually putting up with his personality becomes too much if you arent at his level in his eyes.

Kyrie is just walking toxicity.

If we can't compete for a title with Zion/BI/CJ, then one or more of those 3 need to go, b/c we have more than enough pieces around them to compete, and we can easily add/swap other role players if needed.
All this talk about adding someone making $30+M, and even $20+M needs to stop, unless you're talking about trading one of our big 3.

For some reason people don't get that JV is a top 10ish center and Ayton is maybe top 7. There is not a huge difference in the type of upgrade Ayton would be. Especially if you consider contracts.

JV: 15mil
Ayton: 31mil

Guys we know JV is better than:

Adams (maybe top 20): 18mil
Robinson (maybe top 20): 17mil
Lopez (maybe top 20): 14mil
Wood: 14 mil
Capela: 19 mil.
Holmes (maybe top 30 and can't get minutes): 12 mil.

Guys it's debatable with:

Turner: 35mil
Allen: 20mil
Nurkic: 16mil
Porzingas (if he counts): 34mil

I mean it could be argues that JV has the best value of any of those guys. Two guys that the board loves, Myles and Ayton, make more than twice what JV does. Do they bring twice as much to the table as JV? Hell no.

He's a top 5 all time player at his position, yet he has been traded 4 times for a crappy return each time. He is only guaranteed 16 million after this year, but the Nets demanded three 1st round picks to take him on. Toxic.

I did my best to break down what it would mean to get Ayton and thus become a tax team to the level we would.

I'm sure it wasn't 100% correct but going from JV to Ayton would cost roughly $60+ mil more for the owners. It's not my money, but we have to be realistic, Ayton is not THAT much money better than Val, nor will we spend that for him.

Not happening

Again, you're assigning "toxic" for something that virtually everyone else knows is actually because he's old.

Lopez would be a massive improvement...over JV. In fact...HUGELY massive.

Just to be clear...I think a totally healthy Pels' squad might well be my pick to win it all...IF they could somehow replace JV with Brook Lopez. Given our lineup, he would be a perfect "fit".

If I could pick ONE "5" to finish out this year with (not counting Joker & Embiid, of course)...I would take Lopez.

You have a very odd hatred of JV.

Interesting. Why would you take him over guys KAT, Adebayo, Ayton, Allen, Gobert, Turner, Nurkic?

I don't "hate" JV. I think he plays hard & gets what he can out of his ability. Just severely limited on the defensive end & with our lineup, that is NOT a good trait to have for our "5". And hopefully, with the return of Zion, EVEN the value of JV's offense on the inside is tremendously reduced. NOT a good fit with Zion.

In regards to all the 5's you listed...I just consider Lopez a better "fit" due to his GREAT overall defense & his solid 3-pt shooting, especially since he shoots about half his shots from the 3-pt line this year & hitting them at a 36.9% clip this year. He's a perfect fit for a team with a "Zion" on it. I think most folks just have no idea how good this guy is overall on defense & as a rim protector. Once again, nothing against JV...I'm sure he would be just fine...on another team which might have different needs...than the Pels currently do...from a "5".

For our squad and needs, I tend to agree. And I'm one of JVal's bigger backers on this board.

YOu get better shooting on much higher volume and that rim protection upgrade would be staggering.

No brainer big time upgrade IMO.

Love his midrange game but I think he’s kind of a little crybaby on the personal side that wouldn’t gel with our team. Jonas is a great team player on a team friendly contract. If we need to upgrade it’s for more 3 pt shooting.

Seriously though. Adebayo behind Lopez is crazy not just because he is better but he is literally the perfect fit for us. I would trade all picks and everyone but Zion BI CJ and TM for Bam. Would try to keep Jose and Herb but it wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. We should root hard against Miami to crag and burn and subsequently be forced to blow it up

Wrong. He was developing into a better than 20ppg guy before he took a lesser role when CP3 came on board.

If he had signed with Detroit as rumored, he'd probably be a 25/11 guy. He'd likely be shooting 3s, too.

*ETA: he makes too much for us, now. He'd be amazing here, though. There aren't any real options to upgrade JV, as has been posted in this thread.

unfortunately team has 2 needs. i and many posters view PnR defense as key to getting to 2nd round.
jv cannot.
hayes is not it.
billy is not it.
zion is not it.
nance can defend pnr but cannot stand in vs the behemoths.
ayton can do both.
