No not at all. This is the problem with him. He is what he is, and he isn't that good. Definitely not a good NBA player or prospect.

I get that people think Top 5 pick for nothing
Kind of like former lottery pick Xavier Henry for a 2nd...
But I think you are wrong to dismiss him. During the draft I was hoping for a better rebounding Carl Landry, which isn't exactly a high ceiling, and now that I think about it makes me wonder how we were ever excited by him as a cornerstone. Maybe the 3rd team he lands on will have lower expectations and he'll become a solid bench player. I don't think he's done yet he just needs to find a team that will let him be who he is, and a team already loaded at PF is not that team.

Someone gets it.
Being traded by a dysfunctional organization w/ broke owners solely to save money is not a slight on Robinson or his talent. And then he got shipped to a team fighting to get in the playoffs. McHale just loved moving a veteran, dependable pf for a rookie while battling for a playoff seed.
He is available now because he is an attractive asset that can clear cap space for a team looking to become a contender this summer. Unless they believe Robinson will be better than Howard or Josh Smith (and ~90% of the league isnt), you dump him every time.
Pels have no need, but if these reports are true, there should be plenty of teams calling Houston

I hear what you're saying. Maybe he will get there.
It won't be us though, as he doesn't fit with AD and we won't have the assets that they are looking for.
I imagine they want picks from a team that can absorb the salary without giving any salary back. We can absorb the salary but we aren't giving up picks.

He practically 6'9". He's more than big enough to play PF

I never said I liked him one way or the other
I'm just not dumb enough to write off a rookie who played 15 minutes a night.

Didn't David west lead the nation in scoring or maybe his conference his last year at Xavier? Could be wrong about that but I know he was a big time college scorer. TRob is no where near where David west has been as a basketball player.

West put up 20/12 in 36.5 minutes per game his final season at Xavier. TRob put up 18/12 in 32 minutes per game in hid final season at Kansas. West was a senior, Robinson a junior. West had a marginal FG% advantage, but sizeable FT% advantage (West: 81%, TRob 68%).
So they were pretty much even statwise.

If it is remotely true, you take T-Rob for Lance and a second. Lose nothing, and he could be a good bench player at the very least. He is no way a locker room issue, actually the opposite, and is a hard working motivated player.
As another poster said, its not his fault that one of the worst franchises in pro sports drafted him, and then he was traded to a playoff team. He should have been given the oppurtunity to play on a lottery team where he was drafted.

Derp.
Not to mention TRob averaged 5/5 his rookie year compared to DWest 4/4
Sacremento had talented vets in their front court. Houston had 5 PF on the roster. Robinson played 15 minutes a game. A rookie. 15 minutes a game. Call me crazy but it may be a little early in his career to crown him a bust.
By all indications the dude is a hard worker who has something to prove. Legit NBA size. What am I missing? Why does he suck and why is he a bust?

i thihnk you're missing the point. David West was a 4 year college player, and it took him 3 years in the NBA to amount to anything. He sucked his first 2 years.
Do the math

3rd team. 1 year. = coaches see that he sucks.
he's been moved twice for salary, bsaiclly
the kings saved $3M in payroll an got paid $1M in the deal. that's why they traded him
the rockets are moving him just to clear up cap space for dwight
it has nothing to do with his play
Posted on 6/1/13 at 10:33 am to SlowFlowPro
If he was good, both teams would have found a way to keep him.
Posted on 6/1/13 at 10:44 am to Fun Bunch
if he was superstar-good? sure
i don't think anybody is claiming he's at that level, and i'm not claiming that he's going to be a great player
but these trades have very little to do with his basketball ability

I'll reiterate that players should get a chance. That just doesn't mean they should get one here.
He was the 4th PF in Hou for a reason. He's a ways away from competing and doesn't fit with AD. Someone else will try and develop him.
