Don't worry. We're sure to get him one way or another. This draft is full of Thomas Robinsons.

He was pretty athletic in college. He would take his defenders off the dribble all the time. Not saying he could do the same in the NBA but he isn't unathletic. He also had some nice post moves and a decent jumper in college. It makes no sense that he sucks so bad in the NBA. I thought he'd be right behind AD for best rookie in the class and would challenge for ROY.

It's too early to say he sucks. I think he'll be a decent NBA player.

That being said, we don't need him, so no. I wouldn't trade for him.

someone said something about trading him for Lance Thomas and a future 2nd round pick...

if that's the case, hell yeah.

He can't be as bad as Lance Thomas and 2nd round picks aren't of much value.

David West was worthless for 2 years and came in to the league at 23, after a 4 year career at Xavier

TRob made 22 like 2.5 months ago

I think he has some upsdie

He has no upside, that was the knock on him.

Dude sucks. Maybe he can be a serviceable player at some point. Maybe.

i dont know how anyone can say this consider guys like Vazquez, Jason Smith, Ryan Andersen, Robin Lopez all who took 2-3 years to even be a serviceable NBA player

As well as David West as i just mentioned

the league is FULL of players who didnt do shite until they were given a chance.

And he was traded once because he has some value. HOU really like Patterson and they also packaged Toney Douglas who saw nice minutes with them. It's not like he was handed over, "here take him, he's garbage!"

6-10 and 240 lbs is undersized for a power forward? When did this happen?

We spent two years trying to make chicken salad out of Xavier Henry's chickenshit career. I see no reason why we shouldn't do it with Robinson.

I usually say teams should give a player 3 years. That doesn't mean we should.

He was the 4th string PF for the Rockets. Clearly, as of now, he sucks.

And he's a terrible pair with AD. If we are literally giving up nothing but cap space, maybe. But if rather have the 3.5 million.

Also the DWest "argument", if that's what you want to call it, is dumb as frick. It's a straw man.

I'll start listing every top 5 pick that never amounted to shite..see how that works?

The only player that should be discussed is Robinson.

I get that people think Top 5 pick for nothing...but I see teams dumping him quickly and that tells me there's something wrong, like laziness.

im not saying we should either.

but to say he has no upside is kinda silly.

David west is just one example. If you follow the NBA i shouldnt even have to name names of guys that are late bloomers. don't compare the 2 exclusively, then, it's no big deal.

Could be true but at the same time it's fairly low risk investment.

I guess we have different definitions of upside.

Yours seems to be: can he develop into a somewhat serviceable player?

Mine is: can he be significantly better player than he was on entering the league? Can he live up to being picked 5th.

To me the answer is probably not.

Im only looking at his future value what he'll likely command in a trade.

His upside would seem to be pretty high if someone bought him this low.

He hasn't even really been given a chance to play. He averaged 15 MPG on the season. Im not sure where he was supposed to steal minutes. He was playing behind some vets.

He played 20-29 minutes in 19 games (23.5 avg) and averaged 9/6 while shooting 48%.

He played over 30 minutes 1 game and posted 12/4 while shooting 71%.

PER 36

11 PPG
11 RPG
2 APG
1 BPG
1 SPG
52% FG

13 rookies averaged more than 20 MPG this season.

4 averaged double digit points.

6 averaged 5+ rebounds (Robinson was 8th best).

If you are writing off TRob, you are writing off about 75% of the rookie class.
