The good news is we have a much better medical staff that will hopefully prove that by getting him back to form soon and not have this be one of those lingering issues we’ve come to expect over the years

Sounds like we dodged a bullet.Maybe they found the root issue determined it wasn't serious and now are seeking further information and testing to see how to treat

Right, my friend just texted me talking about "losing weight". Stop watching first take! If it is proven it is because of his weight, we'll go with that, if not, get out of here

This is exactly it. We don't know. Could be a torn meniscus. Could be just soreness. Could be something else. Could just be precautionary. I don't see the point in jumping to a conclusion and freaking out until we actually know something.

His weight definitely contributes to stress on his knees but I highly doubt he's at a weight that the Pels aren't comfortable with him playing at. Nike might be gunshy after their deal with Derrick Rose went south after his knee injury but I don't see them telling Zion about playing weight.

This might make sense if Derrick rose ever wore nikes in the NBA

If they are still running tests and etc, I would wait for the official press release to give us a real timeline. It could still be less time. They have to see how long it takes for the swelling to go down and etc..

A good point from our dearly departed Crewz:

quote:

I think this is the other side of Aaron Nelson that some might have ignored.

With a goal of Injury PREVENTION, comes constant search for abnormalities and a tendency to error on the side of caution. I think we could see guys miss more games the next 2 years than we would w/o

quote:

Nelson and his staff/systems. He is going to get guys into correct habits and work on a whole body approach. But that wont come from one summer and a shiny new facility. It will take time and when a guy has a chance to really frick a lot up, they will shut him down and regroup

It’s a little frustrating that we already know Mahomes’s injury, diagnosis and time out but still not much on Zion.

I strained my MCL (Grade 1 Injury) in high school and had to do physical therapy for a few weeks. The injury was caused from two people kicking a soccer ball at the same time (from opposite sides). Pain shot down my leg from my knee to my ankle and me knee felt like jelly for a few days. There was no stability in my knee for a few weeks. So if Zion was playing through the soreness I want to believe that his injury is not that serious. But what do I know, He is a freak of an athlete!

I will say I noticed Zion had a lumbering walk during the lead up to the draft.

So basically, this situation is the exact opposite of the QPon situation. Training staff identified something that could turn into a major problem down the road and are correcting it now, instead of sending him out there on an injury that will definitely get worse.

Again, nothing definitive, but a "few weeks" seems promising...

Not sure how much stock I put into Chris Haynes knowledge of the situation, but he's saying exactly what I said earlier today.

There is definitely an issue with the knee, but the amount of days/games Zion will miss has as much to do with his conditioning as it does his knee injury. If he were in peak conditioning form, he'd probably be held out less than he will be.

Saying the Pelicans are “ecstatic” implies there’s no tear or structural damage.

TNT just reported that he’s going to get some more tests done this weekend. While he has been ruled out for tonight’s game, he has not been ruled out for any game after tonight.
