Would you take a Donovan Mitchell package for BI?
Interesting stat. EDIT: I'm a moron.
Interesting stat #2 - BI is almost exactly a year younger than Mitchell.

Should we sell high on someone like Herb in this buyers' market
How many people drafted in the first round of 2021 would you definitely take over Herb? For me, it is about 10. Same with 2020 and 2019.
Not even taking his lower salary into account, he's worth roughly a pick in the top 12. Except, he's a known quantity who doesn't have a learning curve and who has been a great cultural fit with the team. Because of that, receiving anything less than a top 5 pick is not really selling high. And we ain't getting near a top 5 pick for him.

I'd be very surprised if someone gave up a lottery pick for Herb, tbh.

That's false. Mitchell has played more games than BI in his entire career.

Maybe my math sucks, hang on.
Posted on 2/2/23 at 1:38 pm to Mulkey Man
BI has logged 386 regular season games in his career while Mitchell has logged 388. This doesn't even include the playoffs.

Only zion is untouchable imo. If someone would highly over pay for BI I’d listen
And what would be the point of selling a high level #2 guy for the hopes of eventually getting that same guy with whatever return you get from the trade.
Trading B.I. for anything other than another star (for instance, the KD rumors earlier this past summer), makes you a worse team and probably one that is barely competing for the play-in. The last thing we want to do is put a product around Zion that isn't able to compete at a high level.

Yeah I’m not thinking about trading BI until the summer. I’d hold off on trading him unless it’s for a SGA, Luka, KD caliber of player. If you’re gonna trade down in value it’s gonna have to be similar to the Sabonis/Haliburton deal and I don’t think there’s a young guy similar to Haliburtons quality that another team would be willing to trade for a win now player in Bi.
Off the top of my head the only guy I can think of is maybe Josh Giddey

The comp would probably be something like…BI for OG Anunoby, Gary Trent Jr., Koloko, 3 firsts, and pick swaps. I don’t think Toronto does that deal, but that’s the kind of deal that feels like what Cleveland and Utah did in their deal.

I don't know, if i could get a couple players on the cusp of all star status along with a couple 1sts and swaps, I would definitely heavily consider it. Make ourselves a deeper team and add even more shooting.

I wouldn’t be upset either especially if it’s guys who don’t have injury issues.
I’m just wishful thinking and holding out for the Luka dream mainly. I just don’t see us trading BI until summer at the earliest
I’m not the biggest fan of trading BI for that raptors package that Bama pelican posted. I just like OG on the idea that’s he’s with scorers like BI, Z, CJ

Yeah i think Raptors want to build around Barnes and make him “the guy”, so that will limit them on going after a star player.
I would look more at teams like Detroit or Charlotte, teams that may think they need that guy to help their recent picks make the next step and infuse some excitement into the fan base.

How about the Pacers?
Ingram and Hernangomez
For
Hield, Duarte, Thies and 4 1sts, 2 swaps (2 in 23, 24, 26, swaps in 25 and 27).
Duarte is in a soph slump, but has potential as a 3&D. Balances out our lineup and gives us more shooting..

No thank you
Fun fact: Brandon Ingram is 3 months younger than Duarte

Good observation - because they only played together for 10 games. That is the point.
Pelicans have 2 YOUNG ALL STAR Players that cannot play a half season together going into YEAR 4.
Totally unreliable and not going to win anything always being hurt. NOTHING indicates this multi-year pattern of 2 consistently injured players is going to stop.

Mitchell is better than Ingram, by a decent margin too
The tide sure does turn on here. When I was pumping up Mitchell for a trade in the off-season, I was told by the experts on here he was a ball hog black hole, no defense playing most overrated ‘star’ in the entire NBA. That he’s actually not even a star at all. Don’t think one person wanted him on the team, now he’s better than Ingram by a wide margin.
Guess him starting an all star game changed some tunes. Hilarious

The guy actually shows up a majority of the season to play so by default, he is better than the hobbled twins, BI and ZW.

not going to have home court advantage at all, which is a problem.
for example gsw and memphis.
they have few home losses.
and surprisingly few road wins.
i agree that a deal may be possible. the deal, if any is made, will tell us whether griff likes this team as is. i suspect griff sits out the deadline & takes a mulligan and hopes the zion ingram cj big3 play together 65 games and griff gets a finals run in 23 24.
