I can't believe there is a world where the fricking Pels are in rumors to acquire a top 5 player and I am fricking pissed

What a difference a year makes

What Griff NEEDS to do is either outright deny this rumor, or make it clear, doesn’t even need to directly address the rumor, but state that we are not moving any of our core pieces this off-season and are committed to them.

The last thing this team needs is our guys feeling like the buy in/family rhetoric spread by this team is a one way street and they build up resentments

These aren’t 15 year old girls. They know this is a business. Thus far, not a single player on our roster has been linked in any way to a trade so there is no reason to be freaking out right now.

You are literally saying that in response to a situation created specifically because people on both sides can’t get out of their feels and egos and it’s spiraled out of control.

Sports has a TON of emotion and ego involved. Managing that is often the difference between bad and great organizations. Can be the difference between a dynasty and what is currently happening in Brooklyn.

And we SPECIFICALLY leaned into a model of culture building predicated on family/love/accountability/respect/camaraderie. If this was a team built like SA or MIA where the expectation is business only, it’d be different, but Griff has built this thing on family and trust and if you are someone bought in, betraying that isn’t just something you shrug off.

So I hope Griff is navigating this with the utmost sensitivity, cause the last thing we need is for someone like BI’s name to get out into these discussions and it to fall through, and now BI spends the rest of his time here knowing this team isn’t committed to him like he was and doesn’t think they can win with him.

Right?
before end of year interviews I would have maybe entertained the thought of trading Zion for KD. But it appears he’s fully bought in and we need to give him a chance to shine on the court again with CJ.

BI, CJ, and Nance are untouchable imo. They were the core of the culture shift and all embrace the city like no one I can remember since Jrue. And herb bc he’s herb.

Just a thought but if you think KD is about to go to Phoenix it’s in our best interest to ensure Phoenix pays the steepest price possible.

Pels may very well be a willing stalking horse here

I think it's a widely popular opinion amongst Pels fans that any deal that gives up either BI or Zion will not be liked.
The real question is if we offer literally any other combination of our players and picks for KD would we be ok.
-I think you'd have to be ok with giving up all your acquired draft capital for a KD, BI, Zion, CJ core. That probably means you are ok with Herb, Trey, Jonas and Jose being gone as well. Not saying all are leaving, but you have to be ok with that.
Next you have to figure out how in the hell you pay all these guys.

Does Phoenix have a package that works straight up?

They would have to get a 3rd team involved I would imagine.

This doesn’t make any sense

Hopefully these guys are just wrong as they have been in the past when taking Pels front office

Griff doesn’t let stuff leak that he doesn’t want out in the public. This is a pointless concern.

Hard pass. We have a solid young core that are bought in and gelled in the second half of the season. And a budding superstar in Zion to add to the mix. Durant would come in and frick it all up no doubt.

Get word out you’re serious about winning maybe, but don’t mess with the chemistry making guys think they’re expendable.

Playing with fire here. They will give up our future for a malcontent. Just let him go to Phoenix where he wants to be. Anywhere else he will force a trade like he’s always done. The guy is 34, injury prone and a little bitch.

The fact he has 4 years on his deal and is demanding a trade from a team he willingly joined and got his buddies to pair with him...scares the shite out of me. That greatly lowers his value.

Yes, I will admit that adding him gives us a lot of potential to win a title...but it also gives us potential to royally frick over our future for a 2 year window before we have to blow it up like Brooklyn.
