A new arena will happen. They will need the SKC space for the grass pallets to slide in the Dome when the NFL gets rid of turf. Gayle will have to spend some money, but getting non-NOLA leges on board while Latoya is still around will be a problem. So you’re looking at at least three years before it happens.

Absolutely. Even if Gayle/NBA foot half the bill, it will still cost the state $3-400m.

Could have built that new stadium three times over using the "environmental impact study" funds for I10 lane widening or I49 extension

There is no reason why we have a shitty arena.

I don’t think there is a hard enough commitment long term to build a new stadium for basketball. Although it would be an exciting development to downtown.

Also, a new football stadium should be considered before. The ongoing renovations to keep it relevant is one of the poorest decisions they have made in the last 15yrs. Should have just built instead of patching

I read on the Politics forum the state has already depleted the BP Oil spill funding. Time to check bank accounts? Where did the money go John Bell?

The money from the oil spill that did damage to the environment is going toward the environment, not a sports arena. It’s all public record.

It's not a popular take but replacing the Superdome should be a higher priority than the Blender.

To be blatantly honest though, the state doesn't have the money to replace either one. It will eventually lead to both teams' doom here in the city.

The new arena should be in Metairie. New Orleans is dangerous! Tear down the old minor league stadium and build it right next to practice facility. Plenty of safe parking. You know who build the Warriors. Not Steve Kerr but Mark Jackson.

I really don’t think a new arena is needed just major renovations to the existing structure.

There isn’t much room for expansion in its current form. Remember, we had to close in exterior space to create a main entry.

Premium Seating is the name of the game.
New Arena allows for more of this, which means more revenue, which should lead to better players.
Also the site lines in SKC suck.

Since there is literally a dedicated website tracking and highlighting where the BP money is going, and again, it is all public record, yes.
