Why would Hart only be 5%? He's restricted and well liked in the organization. Not sure if anyone will throw more than MLE money at him.

The emergence of Naji and the potential of Didi make Hart cheaply replaceable, which wasn't the case just 3 months ago. Assuming the team isn't ready to go into the tax, I can see Hart becoming a casualty of a big move like bringing in a CJ McCollum or Buddy, or even keeping Lonzo. 5% seems low, but if Griff tries to make a big move the money might get tight and squeeze Hart out.

Right, and Hart doesn’t want to be here either. And after what happened with JJ, is Griff really going to keep a malcontent around against their will? Also, I get that he’s restricted, but when’s the last time a Hart level player was signed and traded for actual assets? When you hear about sign and trade deals, it always seems to be for bigger fish.

I like Josh and he’s a useful player, I just don’t really see a path where he comes back and is happy and worth what we are paying him considering the cheaper, younger options that are already on the roster.

Where are you getting this from? Is this just some major assumption you are making simply because he is friends with JJ?

JJ: "But in terms of this front office, yeah, it's not something where I would expect certainly the agents that worked on this with me to ever trust that front office again"

He and Hart have same agent

Doesn't necessarily mean he's gone, but theres enough there to assume that he and his agent are not going to do us any favors salary-wise in trying to re-sign him

JJ sounded like a butthurt ex. Who knows if Hart feels the same.

the more I think about it...

I'm Josh Hart

JJ Reddick, my friend, who has earned close to $100 million in salaries alone over the years in the NBA, asks to sleep on the couch I bought with my $5 million career earnings.

Then, after going 0 for a Million to start the season, he takes the rest of the season off for "injuries". Probably sitting at home on my couch, eating my snacks, using up all my DVR space, all the while complaining that he hasn't been traded to the team of his choosing.

When he finally gets traded to a playoff team, he throws a tantrum, and pulls a Jerry Maguire and expects everyone to leave with him.

JJ thinks I'm Renee Zelwegger

frick that guy

There's definitely dot connecting going on, but here are Hart's tweets from the day JJ was traded.

Josh Hart @joshhart Mar 25

Refreshing my feed every 5 secs

Lou about to have them Magic City wings everyday

Damn.

That was just so low man

The last 2 came out as the JJ news broke and presumably are about JJ getting traded. It doesn't mean he doesn't want to stay in NOLA with his fellow Laker refugees and Zion, but I also don't think he views the situation the same way as when he came here and asked Griff not to trade him.

And his press conference he made some comments that seemed to insinuate he was not pleased.

The JJ stuff is part of it, but I’m mostly getting the Josh doesn't want to be here vibe from his exit interview compared to the hundreds of interviews he’s done while he’s here as well as his podcasts. Not a tough read tbh. He doesn’t want to be here. Part of it’s JJ/front office situation, but a bigger part of it is SVG and I also don’t get the sense Hart sincerely likes many of his teammates, because they all talk the talk about wanting to win, but they don’t walk the walk effort wise.

i would agree, which is why he should stay a Pelican.

I got some decent inside info on Hart. He wants to come back, and as of now it's looking that way.

You act as if he has basically said he does not want to be here. There is nothing I have seen or read that drives me to that conclusion. He may not be happy with the way the season went but I do not see him as wanting out.

I hope he comes back and I’ll gladly eat crow if he does and isn’t a malcontent. Hart generally wears his emotions on his sleeve and he wasn’t his usual upbeat forward looking self. Every word he said about New Orleans and the Pels in that presser was in the past tense.

Maybe he will fall back in love with the org/overall situation when we are his highest offer in free agency.

Hope your info is good Toula.

I would not say that he doesn't like them. I think that he wants them to work harder and gets frustrated with them.

But I find Toula's report credible, because Hart also can see just how incredible Zion is becoming, and the fact that the Pels will be contenders soon.

The guys on the team know that the team was crippled from the start because we simply did not have the personnel to offer any pick-and-roll defense, and teams exploited that against us all season long. If we replace Bledsoe (and also with the emergence of Naji and the arrival of Didi), that problem won't be around next season.

The collective Zion/NAW/Jaxson/Kira improvement is likely to be significant. It's just obvious that, if Zion and BI both stay relatively healthy next season, we are going to be a much better team. Why would he want to leave?

The Bulls say Coby White had surgery on his left shoulder for an injury he sustained while doing “basketball related activities” over the weekend. He will be re-evaluated in four months — meaning right before the start of the regular season, and after training camp has begun.

I wonder if this would impact the Bulls interest in Lonzo and their willingness to include White in a S&T. They went all in this trade deadline. They can't get off to a slow start because someone they expected to start is coming off a rehab offseason.

They were already interested in Lonzo, which had to mean that they viewed White as expendable. I agree that this kicks up the odds of that deal.

I would also bet that his best financial offer would be from the Pels.

FWIW, Mac claims the Bulls have always been willing to part with White as part of a Lonzo sign and trade.

I think he’s an interesting prospect. He’s very streaky, but he has some off the bounce 3 ball ability. I wouldn’t hate it. The question is, would Kira, NAW, and White all fit well together or would we be trying to flip NAW or KIRA for a better fit if we did something like this?

The Pels have the same need to hit the ground running as the Bulls. I would view White as a trade piece for a 3rd team. Maybe if Cleveland is looking to move Sexton to avoid paying him they'd want White and you could get someone like Nance for him.
