The only way I am disappointed with the Pels is if the team lacks effort and has chemistry/drama issues. Injuries could also place a damper on things but that goes for every team.

The lack of continuity can be a problem but it doesnt have to be. With us playing at pace, everyone will get to touch the ball. With us being young, egos and entitlement should be less of an issue. Griff has assembled a deep team made up of what we percieve as high character.

I think effort alone from our team leads to .500 in regular season (due to lack of effort from other teams). If we can get things clicking offensively in the half court, tack on an additional 4-8 wins.

If we make the playoffs, I would be pleased to win 1 or 2 games.

If we have good effort, no drama, and still have poor results, that will be ok. It gives us a better draft spot to work at improving and should end up giving us plenty of opportunity to evaluate our guys by giving each of them minutes.

After seeing the clip of LeBron not let AD film him for his Snapchat I wonder if there some potential for a falling out between those 2. We’ve seen sulking, not trying AD pout his way to big numbers while racking up losses.

I really wish another team would have snagged Rondo. He’ll probably keep AD and Boogie in line which is a shame. The dumpster fire potential of the Lakers roster is off the charts.

Lakers win the first half of the season and Pels win the second!

I’ll be surprised if both Davis and LJ play together for more than 60% of the games.

If teams go hard physically against the Lakers they will break down like a Yugo. The sportsbooks are loving this action on the Lakers to win it all. That is a chump bet.

Lebron has played more minutes after 16 seasons than Kobe, Kareem, and Moses Malone who all showed road miles in their 17th season. They were still good players but not at the Allstar level which Lebron needs to play at for the Lakers to have a chance.

Anthony Davis has only played over 68 games twice in his career and has dozens of reported injuries. He has never played in a deep playoff run and has not shown he is a guy that can even make it through a season. The Lakers will need more quality minutes out of him than he played with the Pelicans to win.

Boogie could not even survive a season off the bench last year without coming up lame.

Rondo only made it through 46 games last season and is going into his 15th season.

Danny Green is not a bad piece but hardly they guy they need.

I would want odds but I would bet the Pelicans win more games.
Boogie could not make it through a season off the bench/

anything more on top of that and Griffin needs his face painted at midcourt

If the Pels win a title while he’s here, the team could just rebrand as the Griffins.

Yeah 38 feels like our ceiling

I don't think Redick would have joined a team with a ceiling of 38 wins. He had options and we did not overpay.

Remember it took nearly a full year with a full offseason to fully integrate just Rondo boogie.

Honestly though, it may be easier to create a whole new 5 (basically an entirely new starting 5) than it is to integrate a few players into an established culture

We are creating a new culture, so it may be easy to the players to mesh since theyre all starting together

Glass half-empty: Pels finish near bottom of West standings as lack of shooting loses us many tight games

Glass half-full: Pels have strong second half of season to keep their names in the running for 8th seed until the bitter end

Dream scenario: Pels play exciting but inconsistent ball, send both Ingram Jrue & Zion to all-star game, win 4 out of last 5 to get 7th seed, and eliminate Lakers in 5 games in first round of playoffs

Where do all these "lack of shooting" people come from?

Redick
Hart
Moore
Ingram
Melli
Miller
Jrue
Jackson
NAW

That doesn't really scream "lack of shooting" to me. We added 3 guys who can shoot the 3 very effectively and thas not mentioning those guys who may shoot better this year.

Are you going to have Moore, Melli, Miller, Jackson, or NAW as part of your closing 5?

No but redick, Jrue, and Ingram will be. I'm sorry are you some idiot basing "shooting" on a team like Golden State who has Klay and Steph up top?

Jrue is an average/slightly above average shooter.

Redick is obviously an elite shooter.

Ingram has not shown consistency needed to label him as a "shooter". He has stretches where he is on fire. He has stretches where he is ice cold.

Our finishing 5 will have 2 non-shooters. Two average shooters, and 1 good/elite shooter.

I'm sticking with my original prediction that the Lakers will start strong and fade down the stretch and the Pels will struggle early and come on in the second half of the season to squeak into the playoffs.

On a related note, I believe that the Pels will take the head to head season series against the Lakers. The Lakers are not going to be equipped to run and the Pels style of play will give them fits.

Yeah, Lakers ceiling is 60+ wins.

Pelicans ceiling is probably 50 wins.

I think both teams are unlikely to reach their ceiling for various reasons(Lakers due to depth, load management, age, and fit). Pelicans because it will require multiple players taking major leaps in a tough western conference.

I think the Pelicans floor is lower than the Lakers for a number of reasons.

But I think it is possible for the Pels to finish higher, but much more improbable than the reverse.

But this is their window....And AD is ALREADY evasive(watching his dickish interview with Nichols saying he would do it all again the exact same way) about whether he will commit to the Lakers long-term. So I am really only concerned about their record when the picks start really getting good.
