Agreed. EP. I am not diminishing his value. DM suggests BI turn into a C&S guy so Herb can be the point on offense?

As stated, diminishes the credibility.

Not suggesting BI "turn into a C&S guy"...just would like to see him return to what he was his first 2 years here. Take around 35% of his shots from 3-pt distance and hit them like his first 2 years...at 39.1 and 38.1%...instead of taking only 23% of his shots from 3 & making them at only 32.7%...BI would still take 65% of his shots from midrange and in...I don't think that would suggest we "turn BI into a C&S guy"...

Rest assured, if you see Herb handling the ball a bit more often this year...it will be because the Pels agree with the reasons for doing so that I suggested earlier. And if they do...& Herb can't handle it...I'm quite sure the Pels will move Herb back out to the 3-pt line. Fairly simple analysis of what the Pels will be trying to accomplish.

Then again...I COULD be wrong. Guess we'll find out...before too long.

If players develope the way I hope they do...the "Mother of All Lineups" is... 1. Herb (Point Guy, assuming you gotta call somebody that) 2. CJ (Our best 3-pt shooter...both C&S & off the dribble) 3. BI (Returning to a very solid C&S 3-pt shooter) 4. Zion (Never seen the guy play...but I hear good things) 5. Murphy (The key...if he can pull it off...at small 5)

“Returning to” can certainly be inferring that way.

Your hope is having Herb play the point.

It’s would-be a tactical disadvantage for the star defender to exert more energy on offense. When we have two top 20 players on the team and a 30 year old stud guard. And a 30 year old multi faceted offensive center.

The Pels will use CJ as a conduit between touches for JV,Zion and BI. Herb is the 5th option.

Herb isn’t the primary option with reserves. Murphy is. Lewis maybe.
DD will be another ball handler.

You want Herb to be acknowledged for his great play? Me too. But that’s as a defender and glue guy.

I think we've gone as far as we can go on this subject...it will play itself out before long. Maybe you're right & Herb will just stay at the 3-pt line.

The player development that is even MORE important than Herb's...imo...is Murphy. I think the Pels will desperately want to make sure he doesn't just end up a C&S 4...or whatever he is. This guy has the potential to put the Pels over the top...if he can develope into a small ball 5...& grow his inside game in addition to his obvious 3-pt shooting strength. I assume this will be another major target for the Pels... early on this season. Be nice if both Herb & Murphy could develope the way the Pels hope they can.

Team Zion: CJ, Nance, Hayes, Graham

Team BI: Herb, TM3, Valanciunas, Jose

To create these teams I simulated a school yard pick up deferring the 1st pick to Z.

Graham-McCollum-Zion-Hayes-Nance
vs.
Jose-Herb-Murphy-Ingram-Valanciunas

I think both lineups present mismatches. Team Zion has a small backcourt but when all else fails… “Give the ball to Gerald… I mean Zion!”

Team BI is surrounded with length and defensive tenacity.

Can’t wait to see who Willie Green throws out there to start the season. Also FU CK the Lakers!

pretty sure we all agree on that. Trey Murphy was the 17th pick after a trade down to get off of Steven Adams...if he becomes what we all hope he can then that is a franchise altering development.

It just goes to show again, you don’t have to hit on all your dice rolls. Thus far griff has bonked the 4th overall pick (with nothing to show for it) and the 13th overall pick (again, nothing). That’s in consecutive drafts BTW. And yet, here we are with JV, Trey, Jose, herb and Daniels.

here we are.

huge credit for herb and Jose.
herb is wonderful.
I love Jose.

Daniels can't shoot from 3.
not even meh.
this looks like a reach to me but I guess the gm saw the laker pick as house money to gamble with. he can defend and pass.
good start.
tm3 has a bright future.
I think there are unrealistic expectations by some posters for this year. he's going to need to learn a lot if he's going to be a 5.
its a good enough job by gm.
herb makes it for me.
it was a gamble to swap 10 for 17.
Fwiw right now the ziaire williams memphis pick at 10 is ahead of tm3. Williams played more than tm3 and got starts in 2nd round vs gsw.
I would have taken tm3 at 10. I've got no issues with tm3. I just think guys are hoping for such quick improvements from tm3 it's unlikely for first half of season.
maybe someone knows what he's working on.
soon soon.
speaking of working on game:
ziaire got run at Pg in summer league. he doesn't expect to play point but knows he's expected to handle better on the break. ziaire went to Spain with Santiago Aldama to work on game the rest of summer. I must say 6 11 c/f Aldama looked very very good in summer league. they will both get Jj jr playing time.
