Not too privy to NBA salary cap and contract stuff. Could we drop Solo’s contract? Does Moore factor in? Not a Pels Board noob but dont know much about how this works

we gonna go into the tax next year, we're probably banking on that already.

its just what moves are going to be made for us to improve than this current roster.

moore, miller, solo, diallo, ajinca, and jackson are all assets to be traded.

Its just, who and for what

Also I assume Clark will want a bigger contract than he currently has. I don’t know if the market is there for that, but I could see him gone.

Moore has been very good for the Pels and has a nice contract I would think they may be able to get a little of an overpriced wing for him. He has been such a good player for the Pels though.

If Gale wants to go into the tax they can bring back Boogie, Clark and Rondo.

Can't see them adding a wing in free agency.

Generally speaking, an asset needs to have positive value relative to it's cost

Moore - Borderline
Miller - Yes
Solo - No
Ajinca - definitely not
Diallo - Yes
Jackson - Probably

Ok Ajinca is an expiring, so he might actually be an asset but that's the only reason

You don’t think Hill has a value

There is no other way for Pels than go into the tax. none.

Unless they will decide/Boogie decides that DMC wont come back.

Jrue 26,2
AD 25,4
Niko 12,5
Solo 12,7
Boogie ~30
Moore 8,8
Alexis 5,2
Darius, Frank, Diallo 5,1

Only them put us at around tax
with 5 roster spots left

You can dump Ajinca by using two 2nds probably (it will be dumb - better to wait till deadline and trade him as a expiring)

Add to this Rondo who MUST come back (now he earns 3.3)
Clark also would like to be paid.
Not to mention a wing or someone.
So assuming those two return - Pels are hardcapped and can sign only minimum guys.

So Dell will have to go step by step with his plan - with Boogie signing last (his cap hit is smaller than expected new contract)

He can always trade Niko, Moore, picks, Diallo as a part of bigger deal.
But team wont have cap space and Pels will get salary back...

Very interesting offseason. NOP will be oparating as hardcapped, with easier way to add a new piece in February.

So probably another pick will go.
TBH it is worth it - AD can sign supermax from 2019/2020.

He doesn't have positive value in reference to his contract ie. no other team in the league is going to think Solomon Hill at 13 mil is good or even neutral value in regards to his production. It's a net negative

That's not to say he doesn't have any NBA skills

Why is the cap hold smaller than the actual contract?

Cap holds confuse the hell out of me

A cap hold is usually 150% of your last year’s salary. Boogie’s old cap max of $18 has a cap hold of $27 which is lower than his new max of $30 under a higher cap will be.

Let’s face it. It may make more sense to preserve what we have rather than adding pieces that we can’t really afford. Let’s see how the rest of the season plays out.

Hill has to go. He’s worth about half of what he’s making right now

Boogie has to want to.
Bensons have to want to.

Don't deal diallo. He's learning the game.

If you think you can sign cousins just sign kahwi instead.

I doubt rondo signs with pels.
he will command big money. Low 8 figures.

“Just sign kahwi instead”

Your right we won’t even bring him in for a visit or let him negotiate with other teams. We will just sign him. Done.

MrPel,
I don't think kahwi is an easy deal but until boogie injury, I would have givens odds boogie is gone. I was not really expecting kahwi deal.
Only the Achilles recovery prevents boogie from a max deal for a long deal elsewhere. Even then someone will gamble. Not me.

There are many reasons that this can't happen, the biggest of which is Kawhi is not a free agent. You would have to trade for him. Now maybe Jrue is playing well enough that you could build some package around him, but I have to think Boston could and would beat every trade package any other team puts out.

Rondo already has both a ring and tons of money - he seems to have good chemistry with this team and would want to stick around.

I agree about not really trying to add anything but a healthy Boogie.

After the first few weeks of interviews it was pretty obvious his reputation as a world class a-hole was both well earned and misunderstood. He really is a basketball genius, and I don't mean really smart, I mean legit genius and basketball savant. His assholishness comes from lack of patience for fools and people that don't agree with him, because only fools don't agree with someone as smart as Rondo.

I don't think he's looking to maximize the dollars his genius can make him, I think he's looking to maximize his genius itself. Where is he going to get better tools to do that than AD/DC/Jrue/Niko plus a coaching staff that is cool letting him do what he does?

I don't know what's happening in his personal life, maybe an extra $10-$20 million over 2-3 years would be something that matters to him, but he's already made almost $90 million in his career, I'm guessing he doesn't have much of an entourage because if he doesn't suffer fools I doubt he suffers leeches. I just can't see how money has more value to him than proving the rest of the small ball league wrong by doing it bigger. I think that's the reason he came here in the first place and it's the reason he'll stay.
