The Mac stuff is nuts. He literally left this board because it wasn’t an echo chamber.

There are early season rotation concerns with both players.

Again, the concerns with each are different. Fears is younger and his concerns are things that can be externally developed.

Queens largest concerns are internal and that is always more concerning. Especially to a fanbase that has dealt with a lazy fat big man for 6 years.

What statement did I even make? That he's not a slam dunk, can't miss pick? That he's a small guard, that is currently bad at shooting, but will need to rely on shooting to be successful at the NBA level due to his lack of size? I'm just being a realist.

I'm one of the few fans of this team that actually tries to look at this team realistically. I don't let blind hope and fandom curate my player evals.

I can still like and root for Fears and Queen, without acting like they are definitely going to develop into future winning NBA players. I don't hate them as individuals. I just don't project them as stars just because they are on my favorite basketball team. I pretend like they are on a different team and I evaluate them not based on what I hope, but what I see, and what history has already told us about players with similar archetypes.

Go read his posts about Queen.

Now go up and read Macintosh post and the likes he got off that.

LINK

It’s very frequent that someone posts his views on this site and make it seems like it’s their own thoughts and they receive a lot of upvotes.

Now maybe y’all didn’t like his delivery when he posted here but it does seem to me when his views get posted here that they receive a lot of upvotes and positive feedback.

So wait..after game 1 Fears was a good pick and Queen was a bust. Game 2 Fears is a bust and Queen is the good pick.

Love the SL takes

Maybe some takes are just readily apparent to anyone.

One of the concerns on Queen was his conditioning and movement when he didn’t have the ball.

And that is so apparent in SL it hurts.

I defended the queen pick (but not the trade).

But if you’re watching those concerns have been amplified.

That is exactly what he needs. Can he get there? Hopefully. SL is tailor-made for guards though and he has been OK so far.

Queen has been terribly concerning so far. He just looks lazy and uninterested. I read some concerns about his interviews in the draft process, some concerned about his intelligence and maturity. I hope Weaver did not waste a ton of draft capital simply because his son is close friends with Queen.

Darius Garland was awful his rookie year.

He averaged 12 ppg and had a solid AST/TO ratio while shooting 35% from 3. He also basically didn’t play college ball because of injury, so he had even less experience than most coming into the league.

You box score watching. Lol he was legit awful his rookie year. Fears should have been a college freshman this year.

That's like saying Keyonte George and Isaiah Collier had good rookie years only to watch Utah draft another 1st round PG in the first round this year.

You are right. Darius Garland developing into a perennial all star was completely out of left field after his awful rookie season. Nobody seen that coming.

Let pump the brakes. He is 18 years old. He has all the potential in the world. This will take a season or two before it clicks and that's ok.

What's your point? He was a top 5 pick after barely playing in college for a reason wasn't he? The expectation was there. It just took some time like most PG who come into the league. Players will get stats when they get playing time but that doesn't mean it was impactful stats or even good play. It just mean they had the opportunity to put up stats early on. That doesn't mean they were good out of the gates.

I'm sure Reed Sheppard would have put some good stats if he had the opportunity to play during his rookie year. Doesn't mean he would have had a better year. I still think he's going to really good but he was awful his rookie year.

Yea it’s possible, but I don’t see these posts from other people watching the games. Just this board and Mac and I know people here follow him.

He’s never been a role player. It’s a different story when you get to this level when there are better players around him and he has to do these things to see the court. Is he coachable, is he going to put in the effort to transform his body and get stronger. That’s more of what I’m going to be looking for when the season starts.

When it comes to Summer League, I just want to see his skills and for him to leave being injury free.

Previously I've said he will need to learn how to slow his offensive pace down in the half court.

My guess is he will probably never shoot high 30s from 3 but more in the 33/34% range.

His ability to facilitate looks mature for an 18-19 year old. His inability to handle contact/finish shows why he's 18-19 years old.

Learn to control the pace/body and finish with contact and he can survive being a solid starter never being above 35% from 3.

If he can finish and shoot >35%, he's an all-star caliber guard.

Both Queen and Fears are boom or bust picks with much more likelihood to bust.

Their profiles are more like those that bust than hit and while both are young, their issues are concerning and tough to fix.

It is the same thing that Dumars has done throughout his career. He hit on some vets and Prince as a draft pick, but outside of that was complete garbage as a GM.

Can both hit? Sure, but extremely unlikely, especially with this leadership and coaching team.
