WDSU is questioning booing Gentry? Really?

Let's face it. He is not a very good coach. If fans want to influence things to get someone better, that's their right. Been a while since I seen something that asinine...

It is kind of silly to boo the coach when the team is winning by 20 points in the midst of a 3 game win streak, but to each their own.

That is literally taking a 1% sliver sample out of the story to make your point.

Booing comes from more than a recent trend. It comes from a full body of work.

Okay, you boo him. Then, for some reason ownership listens to you. Cool.

Who solves the problem? What coach do you get that is guaranteed to be better?

The issue with fans is they are really vocal about when something isn't up to their standards but just what to talk about problems and have no solutions. They will just be booing the next guy in four years. It's a cycle of stupidity.

Kind of like your bitching towards other posters on here who don't agree with you.

What do you want the fans to do? Chant “We want Ettore Messina!”?

Sure. That's a start.

I just believe people, in general, prefer to be negative. To complain about what's wrong, but when they are asked how to make it right, they get silent real quick. Or have terrible solutions.

I'm not saying they shouldn't boo, because it's there right. But sports are just entertainment. It ain't life or death. Just go, be happy, have some food and drinks and enjoy.

Your booing isn't gonna matter at all. It just puts you in a worse state of mind. Literally, the only person you are negatively impact in is yourself. It's like when idiot fans riot and tear up their own city.

booing your own coach is trashy and look pretty bad for potential free agents

Booing is like flipping cars, starting fires in the street and looting. Credible argument.

You spend your limited disposable income on tickets, food, beer, parking, etc. For years. It’s reasonable to expect to be one of 16 teams who make the playoffs half the time. At least middle of the pack. Sometimes. You want to, at a minimum, see a competitive team that looks like they are well coached and trying. You can’t go meet with Loomis or Benson or Gentry in their office so you express your concerns in a way you know you will be heard. You boo.

You want a suggestion for a coach? Ask me and give me the resources Demps has to conduct a search and I’d gladly offer some solutions. Or I can just Google and make some calls. Let’s do it!

But nobody will ever ask me. Boo. And probably wouldn’t want to pay the price to get that coach here. Boo. So I continue to watch an uninspired team lose at home to the Kings. Boo. Scoring 9 points in the third. Boo. While I’m drinking a $9 beer. Boo. Watching some iso guard roll the ball off his foot to end the quarter while AD watches from the top of the arc. Boo.

I don’t boo at games. I don’t endorse it and don’t think it’s constructive. I try to just enjoy the game but it’s hard to keep watching this franchise struggle. Maybe it’s injuries, maybe it’s bad luck, maybe it’s the front office, maybe it’s the coach. Maybe it’s a heaping combo plate of that and more. But when I look at the product that has been put on the court, for years, I understand why people boo. It’s one of the few ways to express your frustration and be heard.

By this train of thought, what does going to a game, or being a fan of a team accomplish?

What does it matter?

For once, I agree with Fletcher. This team has an outside chance to make the playoffs and not draw GSW round 1. This city needs to rally around this team.

Also, I'll take Gentry and this staff over Monty Williams 100 times out of 100 for all you idiots, and you deserve to be called idiots, who keep romanticizing Monty to prove your point.

Gentry has his warts. End of game plays are one of them. 3rd quarter nonsense is getting old. I just do not see the absolute trainwreck that everyone is bitching about.

To be ENTERTAINED

That's the whole point. It's like going to the movies. And maybe some of you idiots do it, but I don't boo Kylo Ren when he attacks Luke.

It's brainless entertainment. Just sit there and be entertained and then go home.

Maybe people entertain themselves by booing, who are you to judge what is proper entertainment for specific people?

And at comparing a movie crowd to a sporting crowd... two COMPLETELY different atmosphere settings.

You really do suck at this argument thing.

ETA: And for the record, I never understood the practice of booing, but your argument against it is so fricking dumb, it’s so easy to poke holes into it.

I boo'd my mother bleeping arse off at Monty. So it is kind of pot meet kettle here. Two differences. 1) I didn't boo him during the 14-15 season. 2) There were SYSTEMATIC problems with Williams. How many wide open 3s were pump faked into contested long twos? Ariza was one of the biggest culprits of this and look at him in Houston. The team played in a gunshy system on offense that revolved entirely around the talents of the players in said system, particularly AD. Look at Evans, Gordon, Ariza now. Damn we weren't so bereft of talent. Oh and we absolutely blew arse on defense.

I've yet to hear a cohesive argument what is wrong with Gentry's overall gameplan. It's all small things that admittedly drive me crazy as well (the Jrue isos at the end of the game are just mind numbing at this point), but it's not the hopeless feeling of a coach that is in completely over his head.

I don’t boo at games, and haven’t booed Gentry, although I think he needs to do a much better job at halftime adjustments.

I mean... what kind of miserable person pays money to watch the Pelicans, considering how much of a clown car this organization has been?

Welcome to fandom, rationale is thrown out the window.
