With no NBA games tonight, will be watching UNC-Duke to see Zion, RJ, Cam, but also haven’t seen any of UNC so really want to check out Coby White vs Tre Jones. Maybe Nassir Little starts to take a step forward on the big stage too.

Assuming some of these guys might be on the radar with our pick.

I'm going to pay more attention to Cam Reddish

I think he might be available when we have to draft someone

Well can’t say I have ever seen that before. Zion’s shoe just exploded causing him to go down.

So he’s probably done for the season. Or until tourney time.

Mike Krzyzewski says Zion Williamson has a mild knee sprain, with more details to come tomorrow. Says the knee is stable, which is enormous news.

A lot of people are saying he should protect himself and be done with playing college ball. That's certainly the smart play, but if that's what happens he's not the alpha we're looking for.

That’s a pretty broad statement. If that knee isn’t close to 100% by tourney time, even if he could technically play on it, I’d get it. If that knee is fine and good to go in a week, yeah, I see what you’re saying.

Did AD shut himself down in college when he knew he was going top 3?

No, just when he gave up on his NBA team

I don't know. It could be a decision that is worth tens of millions to, maybe, hundreds of millions. I'll cut him some slack as I've never faced that.

This has to be a joke, right?

Using that logic though, would AD be considered an alpha because he wants to play even though he has nothing to gain and the team wants to shut him down?

If the injury is completely healed, I would expect him to play. However, if I were him, I would not play through anything that could hinder his full rehab.

No. AD wants to play for selfish, self serving reasons. Leadership involves sacrifice. Look at the quote I pasted in the Lillard thread. A leader won’t leave his teammates hanging and watch the post season from home. A follower will let himself be handled by people who are motivated by making money off of him.

I think Reddish will be much better as a pro than he has been in college. His stroke looks pure, he just looks like he is trying to do too much with every opportunity he gets as opposed to just letting the game come to him. Barrett seems like he will take a few years and I think the worst thing for him would be to be on a bad team where his usage is high. Ideally, he goes to a team like Kawhi or Tatum did where they didn't have a ton put on their plate right away.

I like Zion and Morant the best. I don't know where I'd rank the other two Duke guys in comparison to someone like Culver.

I get what you're saying, but this kid hasn't even gotten his first NBA contract yet. I wouldn't fault him if his knee is still a problem, and it's a realistic possibility he could damage it further.

If he's shutting it down because he suffered an injury, and it's made him say "Screw it. That was a close call. I can't have that", yeah, not quite the alpha we hoped.

This isn't a Zion related comment. I know this is a college message board, but I really don't fault any NBA prospects for looking towards their future. People can't point to "free education etc." for these guys. They're 8 month rentals. The only thing they have to play for is their draft stock, a possible championship, and the guys/coaches/staff on the team. If any player suffers an injury that could get badly exacerbated by rushing back to play in the tourney, I can't fault them. These colleges should understand they basically get one "get out of jail free" card with injuries. I expect this to be an unpopular opinion here, but that seems like a fair trade for both parties to me.

I'm certainly not advocating that he play injured and risk further injury, but the failure of the AD era has made me change how much I value certain intangibles.

The most interesting side conversation I saw pop up on twitter after this is that the NBA really needs to go all in on the GLeague to give these kids an option that pays them something.
