I know some people with absurd expectations that think Murphy should already be a 20-8 player with elite defense wont agree(and they can be ignored), but Trey Murphy's steady progression into a really solid role player is one of the brightest spots of an increasingly frustrating season.

This corresponds in part to those minutes, 2nd on the team in total minutes, but he also leads the team in Win Shares at 4.7 which is 43rd in the league. The majority of the players ahead of him are the big names you'd expect when ranking the most impactful players in the league. LINK
As much as we complain about Trey, he's been huge for the Pels this season.

Trey has the tools to take over a game, he just needs to start doing it. He only takes the easy shots, and well, this is the NBA, where most shots are not easy.

Who was it just a few days ago saying he's underwhelmed this season? That was wild.

I suppose a pessimist could say that Trey's minutes wouldn't have gone up quite so much if Zion and BI had stayed healthy.
But that would really only account for a small part of the increase.

I know they couldn’t have predicted his late growth spurt, but man that was a nice pick at that point in the draft.

It has to be up there. I think it's huge in the long run.
