He’s played well in his first couple of games. I think he’ll end up getting some sort of contract. PGs will be Payton, Jackson, and Bluiett.

Pretty sure Blueitt is a SG/SF. We’d probably play him at the 3.

He’s only 6’5”. He’s not long or athletic enough to guard NBA 3s

If he can get that shot off quick enough and show some adequate D, he could make for a great option off the bench at SG.

It would be great if he can develop into an Anthony Morrow-type bench shooter.

We currently play Etwann at the 3 and he’s a good inch and a half shorter. Ideally Blueitt is a 2, but the way our roster is constructed we might use him as a 3. We don’t really have anyone on our roster than guard every single 3 anyway (Jrue can guard the non elite guys), so we might as well give a shooter some minutes.

Moore played 3 (and was one of the worst in the league defensively) only because Hill was down. For better or worse we are paying Hill to check 3s

Anyway even if Bluiett makes the team you are talking minimal minutes regardless of where he plays

Bluiett could be pretty essential if we end up trading moore tho, if he’s just as good of a spot shooter as Moore then he could be an extremely cheap replacement (not saying they’re the same caliber defensively and obviously not experience wise). But he could be a really good full in to get us a nice SF before trade deadline if he’s giving us decent minutes in the regular season

His college numbers do not indicate defensive excellence.
Barely a blip of steals or blocks. Compare 2 guard Grayson Allen, with 3 steals last night.
Bluiett avged way less than half a steal in college.

He did improve his ft and 3pt shooting during his college years.
Up to 84% Sr yr ft. 41% 3 pt.

Glad he's showing well vs young peers.

Payton was the defensive college player of the year, and it has not translated to the NBA, not yet at least.

NBA Summer League has to be the most useless thing the NBA does.
A pickup game would be better development than this league.

It's not about developing players, it's about scouting players. The only thing SL really lets you develop are coaches.

Teddy, I was discussing bluiett.
Thread is bluiett.

I do not question your claims about Payton whom I did not post about at all.

for those of you in love with Bluiett, here is the play that I would be pointing to when I argue that he is an NBA player. Not his 3-point percentage in summer league. THIS play (6:19 mark)

I agree. When I saw that play live I thought, well that was an NBA level play right there. Good D, better O.
