Trading Josh Hart was the start of the decline of this Pelicans era.

We should have paid him the deal he signed with the Knicks. He’s just one of those guys that can enegize the entire team with his defense and well above average rebounding for a 6’5” guy. shite I’d be happy if Zion could average what Hart does on the glass. He would have also allowed us the choice of trading Herb when his value was at his highest for draft assets. I don’t think its a coincidence the Knicks are finally in the finals and Josh Hart and Jose Alvarado are key role players.

They were losing games with Hart. They didn't start winning until they traded for CJ. Pelicans fans have amnesia or something.

Zion never staying healthy killed this era before it even began. That and of course Gayle being a terrible owner

I love CJ but he’s out of gas. Hart is in his prime. I’d have liked to see him another year or two on the team.

Lol, Jose isn’t even averaging 10 min in the playoffs, but yeah he’s a key role player.

Josh is an elite role player. He wasn't going to take the Pelicans over the hump at that point.
Outside of the Lakers and Jrue trades, the Griffin era was a trainwreck. Hoarding and wasting assets like no tomorrow. Forced to use assets to correct bad mistakes and never really assembled a proper roster when everyone was begging for shooting and rim protection for years.

You could say the same thing for Naji, which was more recent

There’s been one constant since the decline of this franchise, and he’s still a part of this franchise for some reason.

Dang i just looked and Naji averaged 15 and 5 for the Mavs this year on 51% shooting. Good for him.

Can we stop pretending we were even doing anything worth a shite with the players that got traded.
The biggest problem tho is Zion being our main guy and this organization unwilling to cut ties.

Changing the name New Orleans Hornets to the New Orleans Pelicans was the decline of New Orleans Basketball

Giving up # 4 for # 8 and # 17 in 2019 draft was the beginning of the end. Trading a high-level lottery pick for two draft-day projects was suicidal.
Then, trading draft picks to acquire Davonte' Graham and more draft picks to get rid of him was crazy.
In the end, the trade of a future Hall of Famer (AD) has netted us only Saddiq Bey. That's inexcusable (no slight on Bey intended)!!!
Now would you like to know what we have today as a result of the Jrue Holiday trade to Milwaukee?
As of today, 05/29/26, we do not have a guard on the team that is as complete a player as JHart, NAW, or DD is.
DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!

I have come to peace with the fact that the Pelicans will never be good, and the NBA is fine with that. In fact, I don’t think the NBA wants the Pelicans to be good.
shite show of a league is too focused on the big markets, and they’ve made that clear. I’ve been the biggest Pels fan in the world, and as much as it pains me to say it, I’d trade the Pels for a hockey team asap
