Nah I keep Herb. His contract is great and he has been playing well lately

I’d rather go hard for Claxton

Herg/Dyson/2 1sts would definitely be an offer I'd make for Bridges/Claxton. I don't know that the Nets would do it but I'd try.

Griff has said over and over that he wants to build the team organically, so no way he is going to panic trade, Sons.

Making a panic move and blowing assets away is probably the worst thing we could do right now.

I dont think Bridges/Claxton would be panic mode
Panic mode would be driving over to Portland with 4-5 picks, Herb/Trey/Dyson and giving the Blazers an offer for Lillard they couldn't refuse, then emailing CJ a plane ticket to whoever we find to take him on.
Or giving up 3 firsts for OG.

Bridges and OG’s per 36 are almost identical, even in the fringe stats, it’s almost weird.
I would prefer OG because he’s bigger. We already have Herb and Dyson to guard other teams guards and smaller wings.

Spending crazy assets on OG would definitely be a panic trade though.
Getting Bridges/Claxton would be exactly what we need, 2 perfect fits.

I don't see how giving Brooklyn 2-3 firsts, one of Herb or Dyson, and filler for Bridges and Claxton is a panic move. Both are perfect fits and fit age wise. It also wouldn't cost us our depth. We would be a much better basketball team. It seems like the literal reason we accumulated the war chest.

What are the rumors about Toronto’s expected compensation for OG? I like him more than bridges but I wouldn’t want to give up more than 2 firsts for either.
Really, I would be more interested in a trade that sends out JV and 1 first and brings back Claxton.

The current offer for OG from the Pelicans, Grizzlies, and Knicks are rumored to be 2 FRP at the moment. I don’t think it’ll be the crazy overpay most are expecting. Things could always change.
I’m ready for these deals to start rolling in fully expecting New Orleans to make blockbuster move.

Spending the same amount of assets on just OG would be a panic move though.

Your not wrong and it’s probably the biggest case to be made for OG’s fit for on the Pels.
He’s really built more like a PF than a SF (almost exactly the same size/reach as PJ Washington and Kyle Kuzma) and at 235lbs he fills a slightly different niche even though it’s covers a lot of the same ground (less wiggle more power) as the Pels’ current wings.
Given the Pels use of a short/thick/athletic PF in Zion, there is some backup 4 possibility for OG that fits better than playing Herb/Trey/Naji/Dyson up a slot when Zion is out. I don’t think OG is effective as a small ball 5, but he should cover the 4 spot better when needed and IMO that is a bigger hole.
CJ, BI, OG, Zion, Larry is a potentially stout closing group.
So long as the cost is reasonable, he makes a lot of sense.

What about something like:
New Orleans:
OG
Claxton
Toronto:
JV
2 firsts
Brooklyn:
Hayes
1 first

But it sounds like for now at least Toronto is asking for wayyyy more than that.
Things could change late on deadline day though.
Also, if I'm Brooklyn, I wouldn't part with Claxton for just a 1st.

Why the frick would Brooklyn do that
They will want more.

Are we sure that Claxton’s value is more than 1 first?
