Huh? JV and and DG alone get you the money you would need.
JV and DG have contracts that essentially end after next season. So you're actually adding $34mil+ to the payroll the following season. On top of pending extensions and CJ/BI/Zion, how do you think we'll afford that?

No, it's Collins money that would put us far into the tax.

Griff has always said he has permission to go into the tax for the right move. This would be that move
John Collins is that move? I disagree.

And also, he simply said he has permission to go into the tax. We don't know if that means multiple years and/or how deep into the tax, so it's not THAT simple.

Durant’s pending status is going to gum up the works a bit. Which is good news for the Pels.

In what way, sellers having to come down on prices or buyers not being able to get anything before the deadline?

I don’t think it was a coincidence that Hayes, Graham, Temple, and Billy were all out last night.

We usually have a 10-12 man rotation and still have Zion/ DD out. Looks like something is in motion.

We have a legit 11 man squad when fully healthy. Can’t imagine adding 1-2 more rotation/ starter level players.

You could keep that team together for a year or two but thats it.

Exactly. People keep talking about moves as if they’re to keep teams for 5+ years. That’s not how things work in the NBA. Teams turn over a lot. If you have a two year window to win a title, you take it. Then you shed salary and try to rebuild. We’d have to let CJ go, probably lose some of our young guys and even maybe trade Bam. But we’d have a title and Zion and BI would be both in their prime and maybe can carry us until we’re setup for our next shot.

Graham, Temple, and Jax match Collin's money exactly.

I think that could be the move. They trade billy for a 2nd somewhere since he wants out

Why is Denver moving Bones? I though they got rid of some of their pieces this past offseason because he was supposed to be in a bigger role for them.

Bones would be interesting for us. Young player that has shown some ability. Its not like he's lit the world on fire from 3 but he's been pretty good.

As an interesting Devonte/Kira replacement I would be on board.

No idea the acquisition cost. I imagine the Nuggets want a protected pick plus (small) salary match.

Yeah that's a surprising one right there. I like Bones' game.

They’re looking for a Naji/Herb type player or a first round pick.

They want to flip him for a defensive wing because they realize they need more defense. Naji for Bones is probably pretty attractive to them. The Pels probably wouldn't want Bones but he could be the path to something they want more.

Bones is also a hard to move player by himself because he makes so little that a Naji/Bones trade is one of the few out there that works as a one to one trade.

Just dug around and apparently he is getting a lot of blame for the Nuggets’ second unit not being as productive as they feel it should.

I think trying to prop up any second unit that has to follow Jokic is a tall order IMHO.

Bones is better than Naji but for team purposes I don't see the Pelicans making that trade. Naji is too essential to the lockerroom.

You would think that, but Griff keeps sniffing around these expensive players and Naji is likely to get a raise next year.

A lot of our 2nd rounder and former 2 way guys are in the same boat.

This is a downside of bringing in cheap talent and developing them… they become an RFA in 2-3 seasons and you have to pay through the nose to keep them.

I don't like it for us.

He's a ball in his hand/make a play or take a shot type of guy, no?

We need a 3pt shooter who doesn't need the ball in his hand, just a catch and shoot guy...really don't need much of anything else out of that guy.

We need a guy like Bogdan, who just knocked down every semi-open 3 last night and torched us.

If we could find a guy like that and have him and Trey on the floor together...sheesh.
