Let me tell you why you dont know basketball. I mean this. You should really let this change the way about how you think you know the sport.

The Pelicans were the 4th best offensive team in the NBA.
The Pelicans were the 4th worst defensive team in the NBA.

Bradley Beal is 474th in defensive win shares. Out of 514.

But sure....we dont need scoring and we need defense so lets trade our best defensive guard and one of the best in the NBA for an empty stat scorer who plays negative defense.

Before this year he was a legit good defensive player before carrying a terrible team

We are going to get to a point where we either keep Lonzo Ball or Jrue Holiday I figure. I'm still in favor of adding another elite scorer. But who knows if Beal can mesh.

Only way you trade for Beal is if you are keeping Jrue

The Pels are strong with Ball, Holiday, and Ingram.

They just need to look at some more perimeter 3 and D guys for depth. Then maybe look for a stretch big (like a Myles Turner player) that complements Zion.

He wasn’t good, but was good enough. Many experts said his defense went down a lot after having to exert more energy carrying the whole team on offense with Wall out. I’m sure the same thing would happen to Jrue if he was put in that position.

We saw at the beginning of the year Jrues play when he was ‘the man’
Most on here were ready to ship him out for a bag of chips lol

It’s insane to me that people on this board don’t see how good Jrue is.

It’s insane to me how much people are attached/detached to him.

I mean I like him. He has his strengths(defense) and weaknesses(offensive consistency, both game to game and quarter to quarter), who is about to be 30 and seems to have reached his peak(but should still hav ea couple seasons left at that level).

There is a scenario where this team could be really good keeping Jrue and going after someone like Myles Turner really hard. Having a balanced roster around our superstar.

There is also a perfectly viable, and potentially higher upside scenario where you trade in a package that involes Jrue that brings back a top ten talent like Beal to form arguably the best core in the league, or some other package that is more aligned with our team’s long-term timeline.

For me, I just don’t get the attempt to draw this Maginot Line between keeping Jrue until he retires and trading him.
