Marc Spears on ESPN just echoed what we already believe. The Pelicans coach is probably in the Finals, Green or Lee.
Said coaches wouldn't be meeting with ownership until the end of next week. So basically after the Finals.
Said Washington is probably down to Ham and Lee in their search.

Yeah that seems to be the deal. I think it’s going to be Green at the point.

Exactly what I have been preaching. The longer you wait, the less good assistants in the pool.
Which is why our coaching staff last year under SVG was hot garbage. We waited two freaking months to make that hire.
The optimist in me wants to believe a decision has been made, and Green or Lee are quietly putting together a staff, but they don't want to announce until after the Finals.
But the Pelicans fan in me knows that isn't true.

My gut tells me that we have someone basically hired, but that they haven't had an in-person meeting with Gayle, and that this won't happen until after the Finals.

i want to believe that, but based on the scant reports, that isn't the case. It sounds like they still want both Green and Lee (and whomever) to meet with Gayle and then make a decision.

Yeah. What else is bad is that the draft is coming up also. The coach should have a huge opinion on what guy he wants/need.

Ehhh, every team that's spent a bunch of money and assembled this Rockstar coaching staff has done nothing, so not that big a deal.
We already have Vinson and TW that will be guaranteed assistants, really only need 2 more, 1 former HC as lead (got plenty out there) and another developmental coach.

Micro manager Griff isn't allowing some rookie HC to tell him who to draft so this is irrelevant.
