But in one of the interviews he pretty much said he’s not good at anything else basketball related, but he will be supportive and love you.

Is Willie Green a homosexual?

It’s like he just thinks, even if he doesn’t know much about Xs and Os, or anything else basketball related, that’s ok, because he supports and loves his players.
It's said all the time that NBA coaching is 15% x's and o's, and 85% mental. Mental being motivating, dealing with egos, and creating/keeping a certain culture.
You want a guy that can deal with the 85%. An assistant coach can handle the 15%.

SVG told @LeBatardShow his priority was on-court results while Griff was more concerned with the "atmosphere around the team and the happiness of people." Full quote.

More specifics on the disconnect between SVG and Griff. I get why SVG would have been considered, but based on what Griff said he was looking for and how far apart he and Stan seemed to be, it just seems crazy that this got past the first interview. Hopefully Langdon/Cash do a better job.

So basically he's saying Griff was ok not winning this year.

I think Griff has bought into his whole family speech about wanting it to be about family and happiness and growing together. I am not against that, but we do not have the years that other teams have typically taken to get there.

I don't think so. SVG and Griff both thought that we would win a lot more. Neither of them anticipated how bad Bledsoe/Redick/Melli/Adams would be, especially Bledsoe.
If the team won more games, then the relationships don't matter -- it's just "STFU because it works and we're winning." See what happened with Thibs in New York if you want an example.
But we weren't winning, so "STFU, because relationships don't matter" was then bullcrap. When you aren't winning, that's when relationships get frayed.
So, all this "we weren't on the same page" stuff is really BS. They were on the same page to start the season. The fact that it didn't work is how they ended up on different pages.

So then you're saying they just don't want to talk about the bad things, and just focus on the good things?
It's ok to fail, and it's ok to mess up, but if you don't acknowledge it, it's going to be awfully hard to get better. You can't just "love" into getting better.

Which gives me pause about willie. It dudes sounds like he thinks all will be ok as long as everyone loves each other.

I think Griff was hoping for the best but expecting growing pains, and that was acceptable as long as you're getting some experience for guys like Hayes, NAW, and even Kira..
Instead, Stan did everything he could to keep Bledsoe in the lineup. The young guys would get a few minutes, but the first time they screwed something up, he would yank them. Imagine what that does for your confidence......

Kenny Atkinson is going to Golden State to be the lead assistant.
Damon Stoudemire is going to be an assistant on Ime Udoka’s staff.
The downside of holding out for a very long time is you start to have a hard time finding quality assistants. See: last years staff

We don't have to worry about lead assistants ..
I'd bet my house they give it to Witherspoon or Vinson to appease someone

If they go with Lee or Green they need a stronger X and O, experienced Lead.

If we do get either of them, we definitely need former head coaches.

That’s definitely the way to go. But will any of them that would take our lead assistant job still very available and worth a damn by the time Griffin makes a decision.

This is exactly the impression I got from Green and you can’t be more wrong

Has there been any updates on the HC decision yet? I feel like we’ve been stuck between Lee or Green for the past week now. Anything about if they’ve had a second interview or who the front office is leaning to?
