someone has to be able to slow down Jokic.

This is a losing battle. Maybe prime Dream/Duncan could slow him. No one currently in the NBA has a prayer.

Let him get his points wise, but stop everyone else. Make Jokic be a scorer. He's more dangerous as a facilitator.

Vanderbilt is a great defender and rebounder who doesn't take bad shots. He is going to excel in a Rodman/Draymond role somewhere. The fact that he makes under 5 million is also a huge plus.

He certainly won't help with teams crowding Zion, but he would dominate the offensive boards when they do.

Minutes could be a problem. But it's a much better problem than being undermanned.

Herb to Denver

Bones Hyland, Graham, Jax, 24 1st (top 5-10 protected) from Pels to Utah (equivalent value of 2 1st round picks, maybe a little more)

Beasley, Vanderbilt to Pels

Sign Tristan Thompson or Dwight Howard to ride the bench in emergency, or leave the 15th roster spot open for tryout guys on 10 day deals.

Herb to Denver is no go for me. They have enough offense to cover him and he has enough defense to cover them. They'd go from playoff team I don't believe in to legit contender in our way. They can have Naji, he's good but not build a defense around you good.

I don't get the infatuation with Beasley. Setting aside his offcourt issues, he is a streaky shooter who makes 15 million per year, doesn't rebound, and rarely plays defense.

Gary Harris, Grayson Allen, Alec Burks,
and Payton Pritchard are all better and cheaper 2 way shooters. Seth Curry and Luke Kennard are cheaper and better shooters. And Gary Trent and Buddy Hield are significantly better players and only slightly higher paid.

Including Beasley in a Vanderbilt trade should damage Utah's return, not increase it.

1) Availability
2) Acquisition cost (Graham and protected 1st should get him)
3) Size. He’s a big guard.
4) Shooting ability.
5) Defensive ability.

Now FWIW, i would prefer Bojan, GTJ or OG over Beasley, but by all indications none of them are available as of yet.

This list is guys that could be gettable and can protect the rim a bit/defend and also shoot a bit.

Note - there is some overlap with the first list

In this case do you move JV and keep Billy to be 80% of what JV brings?

Big hole in this plan is that Billy doesn’t give you close to 80% of what JV brings

Listening to the Zach Lowe latest podcast now, and he's talking about how Beasley/Vanderbilt would really fit a need for us.

I would love that trade. Super high on beasley.

What would that trade look like?

To the person above talking about trading val and playing billy, that's a no for me.

Val only makes 15 mil. They should be able to find someone at the deadline or next yr to split time with him. I've always wanted to sign javale mcgee or a guy like him.
