This team is better without JV on the floor

We play JV because he is a "Double Double" machine but even when he is on the floor the other team out rebounds the Pels on BOTH sides of the floor. He gets beat badly in the PNR. He makes horrible, obvious fouls. He plays like he has cement shoes on.
Last night Jax did a MUCH better job on both ends of the floor minus the rebounding but we still managed to stay even in rebounding vs Portland. I'd rather play small ball and lineups with Jax and Larry in the lineup than see JV on the floor for the remainder of the year. The only time JV is good is when our big 3 are injured and we need someone to score and we play through him. No chance we are playing through JV with 2/3 of our big 3 healthy.

Agreed. Overall JV hurts us. You have to appreciate his availability at least I guess.

Great guy but he’s a 10-15 minutes player at this point. His defense is just atrocious

On JV...just gotta make sure you don't have him on the court when things get serious.
1. You play the 1st half...just to get to the 2nd half.
2. You play the 3rd quarter...just to get to the 4th quarter
3. You play the 4th quarter...just to get to crunch time.
4. You play crunch time (final 5-7 minutes)...to decide who wins the game.
Portland game was very interesting. Seems WG had a different plan than his normal game plan. Seemed to go totally small at crunch time & used Herb in a different way, at least down the stretch, than he has in the past ...on BOTH ends of the court. Like to see him stick with this plan and see how it holds up.

they played 1 guy taller than 6'8" for 18 minutes.
We still played Hernangomez+Hayes >30 minutes combined. I can defend the Hayes part, he's a fast footed big man and played solid defense vs guards/wings. I cannot defend Hernangomez playing as much as he did, considering he got beat like a drum

Mannn I would caution the quick judgment.
The only combination WG hasn’t tried is Hayes at the 4 with JV at the 5. It’s the one that’ll work too.
This allows your “specialists” to be just that:
CJ and Bi: scorers;
Herb - defense and slashing ability;
Trey - 3pt blasting etc.;
Dyson - lock down D;
Richardson - as needed; whatever WG sees is his best attribute.
Hayes is quick and energetic enough to be that wild card we need. He’s not needed for the offense, JV can pick up that slack..plus we’re now “big” when BI and/or Trey are in the game.

It’s tough to not pull for Jonas. He’s the tough guy true center you always need on every good team but they are becoming less and less common. Great guy and teammate so I can’t root against him. He isn’t without fault, mainly his foot speed. But he can also really bully smaller 5s on offense and has a pretty solid all around game on that end. He’s also on a very reasonable contract. Larry will always be our guy on the court with under 5 minutes but I think fans are quick to forget some of those nights where we would face been screwed without him too when he throws down 25 & 15. He’s also been an iron man this year when everyone else has gone down he refused to sit even on nights Willie asked him to. That has without question taken it’s toll now though and he’s banged up at a bad time with Larry down too but he will be back on the court gutting it out before anyone wise returns.

JV should play when the other team also has a big slow big on the court

Ingram - absolutely not
Trey - maybe
CJ - maybe
Herb - definitely

I think the injuries have taken a toll on JV this year. Honestly, rest him as long as you can because you’re gonna need him down the stretch of the last 10 games.
He can still be a really valuable piece if he gets right.

You better watch out or Shel will eat your arse. JV should get about 15 minutes a game against the right match up.

Factually speaking, we perform better when all those guys are off the court, same going for JV.

I like JV, sort of like how I liked Devonte. The truth is we play better without them. Having JV on the team for certain matchups throughout the year is good but with our current defensive scheme he gets cooked all game or commits dumbass fouls when he is frustrated.
Having Jax at the 4 to cover for JV’s weakness on defense really isn’t an answer.
