This is not the loss to melt over.

Called it last night. Scheduling loss.
We come out firing against a shitty team in the first half loaded with adrenaline.
Take a 15 minute break and and all of a sudden their legs aren't feeling so great. They were beyond fatigued. OT win last night. OT two nights ago. 4th game in 6 nights with 3 on the road.
If you watched the game it was easy to see. At least 75% of our misses were SHORT. Front iron. Jrue nearly airballed 2 free throws in a row. Taking jump shots instead of going to the hole.
Ask any coach in the league if they like their chances of winning on the road after going to OT the night before on the road and if they're honest they'll say they don't. Pop brings this up every year. And the NBA has responded by increasing the length of the regular season (in terms of total days) in order to have less of these situations.
The loss to melt over was the timberwolves loss acter they played on the road the night before (First time we played them). The loss to melt over was the mavs loss. The loss to melt over will be IF we lose Saturday to the grizz.
We played 4 games in 6 days and went 3-1. What difference does it make if we lose to the hawks or if we lost to the Celtics? They're both east teams.

I did not like one bit AD taking 2 shots in the first half. I don’t care that we were successful. Here’s the problem. This team isn’t disciplined or talented enough to be able to turn the AD switch on and off.
We basically pissed away a win because AD wanted to let others get theirs after jacking up a high volume of shots the previous two games.
That’s really stupid.
I’m not buying this tired BS. It’s an excuse. Pels lost another stupid game against a shite team they had a big halftime lead on.
The fun of the Boston win is gone less than 24 hours later. Kudos Pels.

Sucks to lose to a bad ATL team, but a week ago every Pels fan would have been thrilled with that result
If there's something to be upset about going forward, it's the terrible defense during crunch time. Bazemore getting back to back layups on simple, first action cuts is inexcusable

The problem is that we blew a 19 pt. lead and gave the game away at the end with missed free throws. You need to dig deep in moments like these if you want to contend. These are the games you can’t give away. If we came out flat and got blown out, I kind of would have expected it. But we had it in our pocket and gave it away.
On the plus side, we still came off the road trip with 2-1 and showed we can hang with the best on our good days. And we still hang onto the 6th seed, though we missed the opportunity to put a slight gap between us and the others.

Play Nelson and Diallo. It’s not like AD was doing anything anyway. This is a bad loss. Up by double dodgers at the half and the coach can’t find a way to win.
Lame!

did you even watch the game? It was obvious.

IDK what to tell you if you think these athletes can't play back to backs. How many times have we seen a team come into NOLA and spank our arse and outhustle us on back to backs? All the time. This team did what it needed to lose. Quit making excuses.
You're bailing out a team that plays lazy and gets outhustled all the time with some "scheduling loss" excuse. You don't get "scheduling losses" vs. the worst team in the league.
I don't have the energy or desire to talk about this team today. This was a stupid, stupid loss and was exactly what you'd expect from this team. THAT is getting really old. Have fun making excuses for them.

If they win the next 3 I can accept this as a scheduling loss. If they don't the loss to Atlanta was part of a regular pattern from the Pels involving playing down to inferior opponents.

Can I melt when we lose to Memphis Saturday?

Pre-Melt application granted.

"Scheduling loss" to the worst team in the league. LOL.
This team has earned ZERO benefit of the doubt regarding a schedule loss.
There are 3 teams tied for the worst record in the league right now(13-31)...the Pelicans have losses to all of them. Dallas is 15-30, they beat the Pelicans too. The Grizz beat us twice, keeping them from having the worst record.
Good teams get the benefit of a scheduling loss, not teams who routinely blow big leads and lose to the worst teams in the league.
The Pels know how to take a bad L, tired or fresh.

I think it was a combination of playing down and fatigue. Fatigue undoubetdly played a role, but I think there was also an element of coasting once they took the big lead. The lack of depth really hurts in these games. Too many wasted roster spots on this team.

Results after each Pelicans 3-game win steak this season:
Nov 3-7: lost 3 of next 5
Nov 20-24: lost 8 of next 12
Dec 22-27: lost 4 of next 6
Extremely important Pels don’t continue that pattern.

Definitely a trend. To me that’s all coaching. This isn’t college tournament playing potential 3-5 games in so many days. He and his staff have to schedule mins appropriately. A team built like this, loaded with veterans, knows you win the games you’re supposed to and the Celtic wins and Cav blowouts are lagniappe. If we only win the better percentage against the lower tier teams and we are on the top half of the playoff hunt shooting for home court in the first round.

Yea that's bad.
If we don't go 3-1 over our next 4, that's a big problem.

These dudes are some of the best conditioned athletes in the world. I don't buy the b2b excuse.
We are just a .500 team. That's what .500 teams do.
