The Rockets dont automatically get the bronze over the Hawks just because of the results of those two series.
Playoff wins:
Warriors: 12
Cavs: 12
Rockets: 9
Hawks: 8
Memphis/Chicago/Washington: 6
San Antonio: 3
Brooklyn/Milwaukee: 2
Dallas/Portland: 1
Pelicans/Toronto/Boston: 0
Rockets with the bronze.

We’re funny with coaches. It’s like there’s a binary method we use to process each one. Brilliant ones get the benefit of the doubt and receive credit for everything that goes right. Bad one are considered clueless, questioned at every turn, and never get credit for anything.
Thibodeau has been on the brilliant side since 2010, but in reality, he might be closer to the middle. His brilliance isn’t exaggerated at all, but we probably downplayed his weaknesses. Managing the season and being a human is part of coaching. So is offense.

Rockets total wins including playoffs-65
Hawks total wins including playoffs - 68
its only logical.

I don't understand why people think Thibs is a bad coach based on results. If we didn't know the players complained and the front office doesn't get along with him and we only knew of the product on the floor, I don't see how he would be considered anything other than a good coach.
Let's look at it...
In 5 seasons, Thibodeau has a career winning percentage of .647. That's 2nd best in Bulls history behind Phil Jackson's .738. His playoff winning percentage is also 2nd behind Phil Jackson.
If we look at the best winning percentages in NBA HISTORY with at least 400 games coached, Tom Thibodeau comes in at 6th. 6th! In the entire history of the NBA!
He's right behind Red Auerbach and right in front of Pat Riley. The only others ahead of him are KC Jones, Gregg Popovich, Billy Cunningham, and Phil Jackson.
And let's think about the playoffs...
In his first year as coach, the Bulls won 62 games. They lost in the Conference Finals to the Heat. How can you fault him for losing to the Heat?
2nd season - They had the best record in the East, but lost in the 1st round because Derrick Rose tore his ACL during the first game.
3rd season - Lost in conference semi's to the Heat. Again, how can you blame him for losing to the Heat... especially with no Derrick Rose.
4th season - lost to Wizards in 1st round. Rose got hurt again during the season and only played 10 games. They somehow won 48 games.
5th season - Rose misses a lot of time again, and wasn't even that good when he played, but they win 50 games and lose to LeBron and the Cavs in the conference semi's.
So he's either losing to superior teams with LeBron on them, or his franchise player is getting hurt.
How people think he isn't that good of a coach is beyond me.

The results in the tournament is where the prizes are won.

bullshite! This dude knows AD will probably sign one of the healthiest contracts in the history of bball. That contract tenure will most likely be longer than Thib's next job.

I'll take 13 turnovers in the WCF over getting swept in the first round any day.

Don't go all boom on us. How long have you been a Rockets fan? Do you have anything to say about JVG?

PLease bro give me a break. I ain't claiming any consolation medals. Don't mind if my fellow rockets brethren do, but that's never been my thing.

Still having "Clutch City" in your profile after that game 5 sure feels like a consolation prize.
