Eric Gordon, due to his contract and dispirited play, is too toxic.

A+ English.

Wow, just wow.

The Jrue Holiday trade could go down as one of the worst deals in NBA history.
Yeah, for our benefit. 76ers lost a star talent for Nerlens who may never be able to reach his potential due to injuries.
Horrible, just horrible article. We got a very good PG in that deal and I would still make that trade every time.

But the potential definitely exists for an all-time robbery.
"But the potential definitely exists..."
Do we really need to go into all "potentiallies", here? What could potentially become of Philly's injured 200 lb center that's never stepped foot on the court yet. Or the hit and miss nature of the 10th pick in the draft?
But hey, Noel could potentially be Hakeem and they could potentially draft the next Jordan with the 10th pick.
Noel could also potentially be Sam Bowie and their 10th pick could potentially suck arse.
While Jrue Holiday potentially turns into Magic Johnson.
Funny thing about the future, it's never here yet.

What's funny is that when Holiday has a good season as the Pelicans become a playoff team, and Noel + #10 struggle as rookies, people will overreact the opposite direction. It was then and still is a win win trade for teams heading in different directions.

This was a pretty terrible article.

As far as the pick goes that we're trying to acquire, is this a continuation of our love affair with Dario Saric?

Not even the worst deal in the past 2 years...
The Lakers trading for Steve Nash is far worse than this, as is the trade that sent Howard to LA, Bynum to Philly, Iggy to Denver, and Affalo to Orlando.
Orlando is the only one who ended up with any long-term pieces out of the whole thing as Bynum missed the whole season, Howard underachieved in LA before leaving for Houston, and Iggy bolted from Denver after George Karl got canned.

Even though it was a sign and trade deal, Orlando only getting Ayon for Anderson was pretty bad on their end in hindsight.

Many teams are looking to trade their pick for a productive veteran and Demps is playing a little game called "Have you met Eric?"
Posted on 6/17/14 at 2:54 pm to TigerinATL
That's what we need, a productive veteran. Please don't say tyreke, holliday, etc.. technical veterans but still very young.

Philly is lucky the trade didn't turn out worse for them. Had the Pelicans not had so many freak injuries last season the pick they sent Philly this season would have been worse.
So Philly sent out Holiday last season and added an injured Noel and replaced Holiday with a PG who can't shoot.

The topic really is just laughable. There have been Hall of Famers, top 50 all time players, traded for peanuts. The idea that this deal would be mentioned in those terms in any way, let alone BEFORE any of Philly's compensation has even stepped on the court is amazingly dumb.

Wow.... horrible article.
Best part is that Noel hasnt even played a single second in the NBA... yet some people say its the worst trade in NBA history. What happens if Nerlens comes back and is a shell of what he was at Kentucky? Like people have said, hes a 200lbs Center whose best attributes were his athletic ability to run the floor and jump. After an ACL tear, who knows what that will be like. And hes never been a skilled big or an legit offensive threat. At best hes Larry Sanders IMO.
On the other hand, we got a 23year old all star PG coming into the prime of his career. And we got him after he signed a 2nd contract at a steal of a price for the type of player he is. Hes also 1 of the better defensive PGs in the game. And in the NBA, especially the West, you have to have a legit PG to compete considering the other PGs in the conference (Westbrook, Parker, CP, Curry, Conley, Ty Lawson, Lillard, Dragic / Bledsoe, etc).
The only reason someone is saying we got the short end of the stick is because we werent that successful this 1st year with Holiday. And he was hurt, as was a lot of our key players. And sure, it took Holiday a little while to get used to the system and the other players around him. But look at how he played during the month of December, when he finally got comfortable in the system. 16ppg, 9assists, 4rebs, and 1.5steals. While shooting 48.5% from the field. Thats the type of player I fully expect to see next year, and maybe even a higher ppg average.
