Found this to be one of the more fascinating podcasts this week, not least of which because it confirmed a rumor that was on the periphery for a while but kind of got forgotten about in the CP3 era

LINK

Highlights:

- Talks about CP’s competitiveness
- Talks about why he chose Indy
- Confirms again that basically Shinn killed the team when they traded Tyson Chandler, which apparently it had leaked they were trying to do for almost a year.
- He and CP are still pissed because they felt had the organization acted like they actually cared they could have won it and should have(felt that Dallas title should have been there’s, joked they did it by getting our guys!)
- Confirmed that the Shinn regime had a chance to get Rip Hamilton and refused(almost assuredly because of money).

That last one is the big one and I didn’t know I could be pissed all over again about that era.

CP3
Rip Hamilton
Peja
West
Chandler

I mean that’s not just one championship, that’s probably multiple ones. Can’t say how much that pisses me off hearing and I honestly don’t want to hear a word about how D West or CP quit on this team, the Shinn organization utterly fricking failed them and they had every right to want out.

I mean this isn’t the organization that failed them really?

Poor phrasing on that last sentence, I’ll change it, since obviously me saying the Shinn regime over and over means I get that.

I can’t help but think we got a bit unlucky with how bad the 2006 and 2007 draft classes where in the end of the lottery where we picked in the years after the CP3 draft.

Julian Wight - 06
Hilton Armstrong - 07
Cedric Simmons - 07

And if you look at the players around those picks, mostly all trash. Had one of the those guys worked out things could have been a lot different for the franchise.

I'll never forget watching that '08 run my last year at LSU and series vs the Spurs.

When I think of the Hornets / Pels, I think of D West.

Makes me angry thinking inept ownership did that era in.

The front office and coaching staff did miracles with drafting and getting talent...but cheap ownership totally put an end to it.

Now I wonder, does CP3 want out still if we didn't try to trade Chandler and end up competing? Because he is the domino that affects it all.

By both he and West’s account they thought we had something incredibly special and Tyson was basically the death blow. Though apparently now there was also the Shinn franchise passing up a chance to get Rip Hamilton that had poisoned the waters as well.

I think it’s safe to say if we would have committed to truly building out that core they would have stayed here.

I thought I couldn’t forgive Shinn for bringing in the Oakridge boys for the playoff halftime entertainment...

Mother fricker!

All of this. That sucked.

Thanks for the info Bronc. Like you said, I didn’t think I could get more pissed off about all that, so thanks.

Loved those squads but no team with David west as the 2nd best player is winning a championship, much less multiple

Did you miss the part about Rip Hamilton?

I feel like you intentionally ignored that.
