1/ Pick who you are going to build a team around (Zion or Ingram)
2/ Get rid of the guys that do not contribute to making the actual main guy a 1
3/ Get rid of the supporting players that don’t maximize the #1 guy

Profit

Sounds easy but then what happens when your supposed #1 Zion gets hurt.

Then we’re in the same position we are now but at least we’ll be a better team and hopefully have more wins when he’s healthy

It’s not like BI is a beacon of health either

So it would be no worse than what we have now but the team would be built around Z? I’ll take that.

Averages less than a 1/2 of a season. Simply unreliable.

He played almost the entire season this year. He's finally taking his health and weight more seriously.

We can't build around BI and be a real contender. Building around Z is the only option, outside of blowing it up.

Zion has been unavailable for the postseason four out of five years. Every time it's been due to a lower body injury.

It's not a matter of if, but when he will have a injury during the season that will make him miss at least a month. And despite whatever good conditioning he's in, the more minutes he builds up towards the end of the season, the more likely he will get hurt. His body will most likely never allow him to be a guy that plays 30+ minutes a night.

Its not that easy.

Count on Zion who is always hurt?

BI usually isn't this bad, but certainly isn't making progress to be the leader of the team. Serious reasons not to extend and max.
CJ / JV age
Trey, can't do anything but shoot 3s.
You saw tonight that Marshall and Jose are spark plugs, but you can't play them more than reserve minutes, too many liabilities.
Herb was great this year, but when you needed him to step up in the 4th he struggled.

Zion and Herb are the only ones i would keep if we were able to make something happen in 2025.

Pelicans are not close at all. Find a way to get more picks in 2025 Flagg, who could still grow an inch or so, would be ideal next to Z. All 3 top guys would be better than what we have.

Zion needs to expand his game. Constantly trying to crash through a double or triple team wall, to get a layup, is just inviting injuries.

He needs to incorporate some floaters, mid range and 3's into his game.

The fact that Griff isn’t listed among the problems renders this list worthless

He was taking midrange shots regularly in the last couple of games. I fully expect him to incorporate a more diverse bag going into next season.

To be fair before he got hurt he really was doing this. If Zion continues his progression, stays in shape (huge if) and stays healthy(also huge if), Zion is on the right track.

We suck. Just like we do if Ingram is here and Zion gets hurt. Ingram has shown that he cant keep us afloat without Zion so what the frick is the point of him

1.Keep Zion, herb, Trey, Dyson, Hawk
2. punt everyone else to the moon, that's your core going forward.
3. Hire a coach that can run an NBA offense. Offense is king, worry about the rest later
4. Find a god damn center and point guard.

As I see it, the issues are not complicated either:

(1) Learn how to win. That is - finish. We blew - at the very least - ten 4th quarter leads, if not 15, including the first OKC game.
(2) Stronger guard play, esp. at the point - to run the offense.
(3) Maybe a little better and quicker ball movement. With McCollum, Ingram and Williamson all for the defense to cover - somebody's gotta be open.
(4) Better defensive blocking out.

You can't build a team around BI. He is a #2 and always will be.
