The Pels' future...jmo...for certain the long term keepers are

1. Zion (no comment necessary)
2. CJ (but in his case, long term is 3 yr max)
3. Dyson (too much potential with badly needed talent on defensive end)
4. Herb (as long as the Pels think he is among top 5 wing defenders in the NBA and can guard 1-4 but...if they stop believing this...no big reason to keep him around, unless his O takes a quantum leap)
At the moment, I have everybody else listed as "touchable". Hope BI can prove me wrong by the end of this season...but I'm not optimistic.
Hopefully, I will be able to add whomever we end up getting to fill our gaping hole at the "5" to my "keeper" list. Sadly, it will probably be next year, before this problem can be fully addressed.

Trey has paired with Zion well. His lack of improvement on defense this year is a little concerning but I think his problems there are fundamentals that can be addressed, getting stronger and working on his foot work. I'd put him in the untouchable category in the sense that you wouldn't want to send him out without getting a similar caliber shooter back, which would usually be hard to do.

Herb is less valuable than Trey and Dyson
Teams have clearly got in the leagues ear about him playing aggressive physical defense because he's fouling like crazy this year.. and his offense is completely useless

Shamit has made some good points about Herb and his offensive problems are mainly when you have Zion + JV instead of BI + JV like last year. Herb becomes the 3rd non shooter in that situation and doesn't fit in the starting lineup when Zion is healthy.
I still don't see how you upgrade JV without untenable tax implications, but that might be the biggest argument for upgrading Jonas, so you can fit a defensively skewed wing in your starting lineup.

I'd do my best to try & hold on to Trey. Solid potential. But just so many shooters out there that could be had...that can play better D than Trey can...he's got a bit of time as far as I'm concerned to show something...but needs to start making a move before this year is over.

Also, he's been in a bit of a slump lately but people are overselling his play this year, he's largely been fine. Defense has been a struggle, but he has an absurdly elite level TS%.
I wouldn't worry about Trey even if he struggles on D and not being as aggressive as we need him to be the rest of this year. That wouldn't bother me unless he brings those issues with him into next season as well.
I just think he has a much higher ceiling than Herb. I'm not convinced Herb will ever consistently be an average NBA shooter from 3. He can be, I just think it's less than likely.

Truthfully the Zion injury has me more frustrated than the BI injury. At least last year BI keep us afloat with Zion missing the whole season than we got CJ and made the playoffs and BI showed the moment wasn't to big for him.
Now Zion gets his chance to carry the team and he gets injured again. Dude has to realize he can't play his style for the whole regular season dude needs to take what the defense is giving him shot a 3 and pull up jump shot and pick his moment to attack the basket. Look at the Greek Freak dude doesn't attack the basket every possession like Zion.

giannis has been working on his game. he shoots from 3.
zion hasnt because he has had foot issues to recover from. the recent mid range shooting was hopeful.
no one knows wtf hes up to now. running one handers?
jump hook from 8 feet?

My list
1. Zion
Everyone else should be used to build around him. Shooters, rebounders, and defenders. I want Zion going one on one as much as possible.
Murphy, Jones, McCullom, and Dyson seem to work.
Jury is still out on Jones, BI, JV, and Jose.

These exercises are so based on current whims ... but heck we all have opinions. First off though Dinky, BI bout to go on the "Y'all must of forgot tour" real ones know what's up. But, back to the long term keepers.
1 and 2. Pels go as BI and Zion go
3 and 4. Herb and Dyson work ... we'll see this come playoffs
I love the whole team, but you hold on to elite talent, particularly if they are young.

The brandon ingram hate is getting out of hand.

It literally feels like deja vu again, except instead of histrionics and catastrophizing over Zion last season, now it’s BI.
And honestly I just can’t do it this season lol

Rest assured, I understand BI's talent & I wouldn't just give him away. He should bring a handsome return in MUCH needed areas.
But, I'm trying to win it all and I absolutely HATE BI's game in "today's" NBA. He would be much more valuable 10 years ago or more, so let's move him to some team that has an antiquated view of how important a midrange shot is...(it sux)...and get some talent that "fits" today's game.
As I think I said the other day...I'd trade BI head up for Mikal Bridges. (And the funny thing is...I think I could get MUCH more than Bridges for him if I could find some old codger running a team that actually valued the midrange shot...like back in the good ol' days)

Funny thing is...we probably agree on 95% of the stuff about this team. Hope I'm wrong about BI...and he can adjust to:
1.Playing with Zion
2.Improve quite a bit with the D (He's REALLY slow)
3.Take more 3s and less midrangers
4.PLEASE...stop being SO "sticky" and pounding the ball 10-12 times...and end up with a fallaway 17' which he hits around 45% of the time, on a good day.
I'm purposely leaving off any reference to his injury "situation" since I don't think the verdict is in quite yet...and certainly not for somebody who has been around for the very short period of time that I have been here.

For sure, but let's say 5% is the margin for winning (short/long term). Whatever your seeing from his game, his play-making has been difficult to stop in high leverage moments and seems to make his teammates better. Pretty rare quality for a franchise player.
I guess if you like the constant refrain ... Our superstar has no help, we need better players , in a capped league , then good luck I guess.

I probably need to lighten up a bit...we've got plenty of time to figure out how these things will work out...as far as blending together, assuming we eventually get everybody healthy & on the court at the same time (g)
I wasn't really expecting to be a serious contender this year...just maybe make the 2nd round and...and even make a decent showing after that. Next year...and what roster changes are made before then...is when things should get very interesting. In the mean time, guess I should just enjoy what we have...& hope for the best.

Wait another 4 weeks when both are still “hurt” and watching from the bench. Then if either actually can play, it will take 2-4 weeks to get back in shape.

No it's all good, just a bunch of knuckle-heads talking about our favorite team. You hipped me to Herb early last year, and as I mentioned earlier replying to your topic, he's one of my four keepers, but I also thought we should have kept Wenyen last year too, so there's that.

He would certainly be helpful to have on the bench right now while Zion is out…guy is shooting like 62/36/71 split while bringing 15pts/10rbs and 2.5 Stocks per 36 on league minimum.
